March 16, 2001: The Reed Street Station, Milwaukee, WI

KEITH'S VIEW: An invasion of a more mainstream rock venue than we are used to. The first band (the German Art Students) were quirky dork-pop that didn't really do much for me. The Kill-a-Watts wussed out and didn't show up, because they are a bunch of fakes from the suburbs (actually, they are a decent band, but they think they are hotter shit than they really are). When we played, many of the preppy dweebs left in horror, leaving only a fair number of A.K.E. fans in the audience. We played pretty fucking well, though. Energetic and rocking. The long-haired burn-out bartender kept vocally expressing his disapproval of our sound, but we kept motoring along. Newer songs like "Hose Beast" and "Cannibal Chew Cud" sounded great. For the first time in eons, we did not end with "Bedpans For Deadpans." Lots of folks wimped out and went to other more social-type rock shows that were occuring that evening, but we still managed to have a crowd and even make a bit of money for once!!!
