Timber's Edge

The portal drops you under a large fruit tree, then disappears, leaving you stranged in what you think is a large fruit orchard.  The trees stretch as far as you can see, each full of fruit of different kinds.  You can see apples, oranges, pears, peaches, and some other fruit that you can't quite identify.  Muttering, you stand and brush off your clothes, then try to figure out how you are going to get yourself out of this mess.  Without any other options, you begin to walk.

You past rows and rows of fruit trees, seeing no creature or sign of civilization as you walk.  After a few more moments, you flop down under a tree and mutter.
"Why are you sitting in the fury orchard?" a voice calls out. "You don't belong here!"
This picture was made for me by M Acire.  DO NOT TAKE.
A small child, about the age of 9 or 10, pulls the branches of a small bush loaded with fruit away so she can step through.  Her long blond hair tumbles free against her well freckled face and she watches you with large, emerald colored eyes.  On her back, you can see a pale pink backpack that looks rather full.
"I SAID why are you sitting in the fury orchard?!" the girl repeats, narrowing her eyes.  "You better be here to adopt, not to steal!"
You explain why you've come and only then does the girl's expression soften.
"I see.  So, you ARE interested in adopting a fury.  Wonderful!"
The girl sets her backpack down and rumages through it.  After a moment, she pulls several small notebook-like objects out and sets them down in the grass.
"If you really are interested, you can look at these books.  Make sure you read the rules before you sign the adoption papers though."
