The Forest

You step through the link and end up in a massive forest filled with giant trees. You wanderer around for a bit, waiting for someone to show up and tell you where you are. Listening to the sounds of the forest, you eventually grow accustomed to the small noises of woodland creatures going about their business. While gawking at the mammoth trees you catch a flash of blue out of the corner of your eye. You hope it's someone who can lead you out of the forest, or at least give you a point to head for. "Hello? Is there somebody there?"

You hear a high pitched voice coming from a extremely wild looking bush on your right. " It depends on you're idea of a somebody."

You stop to ponder this question, and after a moment come up with what you believe to be a decently intelligent answer. "At the moment I'll consider anything with enough brains to speak english a somebody." You can't quite believe that you are discussing with what appears to be a thorn bush.

The bush doesn't say anything for a moment and you begin to wonder if that you answered wrong. Then the voice from the bush asks a question," Who are you?"

You're a bit curious about why a bush would need to know you're name, but you answer anyway, "Well, around here everyone so far has addressed me as Wanderer. I have no idea why though. My name is..."

The voice interrupts before you have a chance to give it your name,"A wanderer? Aiyah! " The voice exclaims. "Why didn't you tell me that in the first place? You could have saved us both a lot of trouble."

You blink at the rebuke, then ask a question, "Why are you so interested?"

GuideA snort comes from the bush ruffling a section of leaves," I happen to be the Guide for the forest. I'm supposed to meet everyone that comes through the portals to this place and take them where they want to go. I make sure they don't get eaten or trapped or something equally unpleasant. The Blue One told me that there was a Wanderer coming through the link, and I went to meet them. However, when I got to the drop off spot, there was no one there. I wasn't sure if you'd been eaten, or simply wandered off on your own."

You're curious now, "What are you anyway? Some kind of taking bush or something?"

"Nope." Is the simple reply. After a moment you understand why, the source of the voice has stepped out of the thorn bush and is now standing in front of you.

It's small, blue, and furry. If not for the strangely colored fur, it could be a fox. " I am me," it announces. You muffle a groan and roll your eyes in exasperation. Seeing this the creature continues with the explanation," No, really. Nobody knows what I am, so when someone asks what I am, I answer with.. me! It sounds so much better then saying that I honestly have no idea what exactly I am."

"Oh," is about all you can say to this strange explanation.

The small blue creature continues without a pause,"Anyway, you may call me Guide, as that's what I'm here to do. There are three separate zones in the forest; the Outer Forest, the Rainforest, and the Deep Woods. All three have their own creatures and rules. The Outer Forest is where most of the creatures live. They usually don't mind visitors and are quite friendly. The Rainforest is exactly what it sounds like, a overly warm and wet area. All the creatures there love the heat. The Deep Woods is extremely dangerous, filled with the feral creatures called Qualirons. I don't really like taking Wanderers there. It's simply too easy to get killed. I could also take you back to the Entrance."

Guide pauses there for a moment, probably because he needs air after finishing the entire spiel without stopping to take a breath. "So where do you want to go?"

To the Outer Forest
To the Rain Forest
To the Deep Woods
Return to the Entrance
