After visiting the Blue Fire, Zjarmuu, you head back down the mountain and into the warmer depths of the forest. Now you're strolling down the sunlight path in the dense outer woods. Your guide pads ahead of you, scanning the area. He doesn't look worried, so you don't think he's looking for possible trouble. Time passes without any explanation from the blue fox, so you eventually resort to asking what he's looking for.
"Oh, " Guide seems surprised by your question, "Eskhanuu lives in this area, and his favorite form of entertainment is perching in some tree directly off the path and watching as I go by, without making a sound. He doesn't have any problem with Wanderers, he just likes making my life difficult."
Despite the complaining, you suspect that it's become sort of a game between the fox and the Raveen. You start scanning the path as well, looking for anything that could be a feline form lying in wait. It's not long before you spot a tail hanging down from a tree limb. It appears to be giving off a faint glow.
"Er.. Guide?" You pause on the path, staring at the tail. "What color is Eskhanuu?"
The blue fox starts scanning the area with more interest, "A very pale sort of glowy blue.. Why?"
"So that tail probably belongs to him?" You point.
Before Guide has a chance to answer the Raveen, for that's what it was, slinks down the angled trunk of the tree with an amused smirk on his face. "Got it in one, Wanderer," he says, "I am Eskhanuu." He does a fair imitation of a bow.
You study the male Raveen, trying to decide where you've seen his sort of coloring before. It doesn't take you long to remember Ruyumai and Iuutoimis, who lived further up the path. " You wouldn't happen to be related to.."
You don't even get a chance to finish, as the male anticipates the rest of it and nods in reply. "Yes, Iuu's my father.."
You blink, somewhat surprised. From what little you've seen of Eskhanuu's temper, which doesn't seem nearly as volatile as Iuu's, you would have thought he was merely a more stable sibling. Now you're wondering if this Kat is about to go psycho on you.
There's a sigh from Eskhanuu, and he rolls his eyes. " You caught my father at a bad moment... He's tained by the rage of the dead, and they've been particularly vocal this past little while. I thankfully, escaped such a curse."
That pretty much kills any other opportunity for easy conversation. After straining for awhile to keep the talk going Guide decides it's time to leave and heads on down the path.
