It's quite a hike to your next destination, skirting the edge of the woods you eventually come out into a rocky plateau near the mountain. You immediately plunk yourself down on a rock when Guide comes to a stop, your breathing is a bit labored from the climb. " Who exactly lives way out here? It's not another psycho, is it?"
Guide chuckles, " No. Viasena just likes her solitude..."
"Should we really be disturbing her, then?" You sit up to study Guide, somewhat concerned. Usually people who liked solitude did not appreciate unannounced guests.
" If she didn't want company occasionally she would have chosen to live in the deep woods. " The blue fox explains patiently. "She isn't going to take your head from your shoulders simply because we dropped in for a visit."
There's another chuckle from your back, "Indeed.. I don't usually make a habit of mauling any company that manages to make it this far." The feminine voice explains.
Since it's obvious that Viasena has snuck up on you, you make the effort not to whirl around to study her. If she was anything like the other Raveen's of the realm she would find it funny, and after that hike you weren't in the mood to be laughed at by anyone.
A slim white female with pink spot and swirl markings is watching you, a light in her sky blue eyes that has nothing to do with the glow they produce. "Greetings, Wanderer. I'm Viasena, as Guide mentioned.. I'm a crystal, sub element of earth, of course..." She pauses, obviously trying to decide if she's forgotten anything. A moment later she decides she hasn't and finishes with as shrug.
" So why do you live way out here?" You ask, searching for a conversation topic.
"Oh.." Her smile is somewhat stiff. " I just fancy the area, that's all. My type has always had a sort of a thing for rock formations and the like. This is a good area for that. " She gestures with one paw to the surrounding area. It is pretty, you realize, the plateau gave you a good view of the surrounding area. "Aside from the obvious, there's also some wonderful crystal caves in the around here."
You're more then a little surprised by the sudden stiffness in her posture. It would appear that her territory wasn't a good subject to bring up. You'd have thought the scenery was one of the safer things to discuss!After a short interlude of strained conversation Guide eventually takes pity on you both and suggests that you move on. Both you and Viasena jump on the chance, and soon you're winding your way back down.
"Um, what's with her?" You ask your guide once you're safely out of the Raveeness's hearing range.
"Viasena doesn't get along too terribly well with the other Raveen in the area. In fact, I think the only one she has any respect for is Sepultura." The last is added thoughtfully.
You blink in surprise. "The creepy Burial Raveeness? Ick. "
"Yes. She thinks the rest of them have completely forgotten what the 'real world' is like." Seeing the question on your face the fox continues, " You see, this realm is very sheltered. Their original home is.. Well, decidedly less so. They're more on the knife's edge of life and death there. I thinkSepultura is the only one serious enough to suit Viasena's idea of proper conduct. The rest are all rather settled here, and are relaxed enough to have a sense of humor... "
"Oh.." Unwilling to possibly get yourself in trouble by announcing your thoughts on the matter you remain silent.
