"So who are we visiting next?" You ask the blue fox like creature that walks beside you, acting as your guide. You fervently hoped that the next Raveen was nothing like the Death male you'd encountered earlier. He hadn't been all that thrilled when you and Guide had appeared, in fact he had threatened to kill you and likely would have carried through with it if he'd been able to. The only thing that stopped him was the spell that the realm keeper, Sirah, had provided to keep you safe.
Guide smiles, immediately assuring you. "Oh, don't worry. Arri is nothing like Doruun." He continues to trot down the path, looking completely assured.
"Arri?" You ask, hoping that he'll tell you more. After all, so far on this little adventure you'd been scared out of your wits, insulted by a Kat not much larger then a common household kitty, and nearly killed. You'd really like a little advanced warning about what might be coming next.
Guide simply shakes his head, smiling secretly. "You'll see." Is all he will say, despite your repeated questions.
You're concentrating mostly on questioning Guide, so you don't notice the faint weave of vine rope lying over the area ahead of you. Therefore you have no warning when you're suddenly yanked off your feet as the trap launches you into the air. It takes you awhile to regain your perspective. Hanging upside down with your face mashed up against the vine weave if definitely not the most comfortable position in the world. You scowl down at Guide, blaming him for your current predicament.
For a moment the blue fox looks surprised, but something about the smirk that follows makes you suspect he'd known there were traps in the area, even if he didn't know about this particular one.
The sound of smothered giggles makes you twist to eye a tree branch not far from your current position. Perched upon it is a female Raveen. There's an amused light in her brilliant green eyes. This Raveeness certainly isn't going to have a very easy time blending into the woods. Thick, navy blue fur lightens to a sky blue on her head and neck, while the feathers on her wings are bright green and purple.
"Sorry Wanderer.." She speaks up. Despite her best attempts to sound serious she can't quite keep the laughter from her voice. "I thought I disarmed all of my old traps. Musta forgot that one."
Guide shoots her an amused glance. "Forgot?" He inquires, all of the amusement in his gaze evident in his tone.
"Yep, forgot." She states, sounding all too innocent.
You miss the wink she gives Guide, but you still suspect she didn't 'forget'.
"Anyway.." She continues cheerfully, "I guess we'd better get you down.. LOOK OUT BELOW!"
With no more warning then that the net drops out from you and you collide rather forcibly with the ground. "Ouch." You say once you get your breath back , rather then letting loose with a stream of curses.
"Whoops.." The Raveeness actually sounds apologetic this time. "Didn't mean to drop you so quickly.."
"Fine, fine.." You wave it off grumpily and dust yourself up. "So what's with the traps?"
"Oh, I liked building them in my cubhood days." She grins, "I was certain I was going to trap Doruun for 'Tora and then rough him up.. He nearly killed her, ya know. Or maybe I would catch a Qualiron, or a new species! It was all a grand adventure, despite the fact that I never caught anyone other then Wanderers..." Another grin flashes across her face. "And Akuulan." She giggles. "That was so funny."
You wait for further details, but the Raveeness remembers that she hasn't introduced herself and hurriedly does so. "I'm Ky'arri, I'm sure Guide mentioned me on the way over." She grins again.
"Um, yes, he did." You say, unsure what else to say except to introduce yourself in turn, which you do.
"So, nice'ta'meecha.. But actually, I have got to be going now.. Things to do, Raveens to see, you know the deal. Cyas!" After flashing another grin she leaps into the trees and is gone.
" Well, that was interesting.. And a bit painful.." That's really all you can say on the subject when Guide asks you what you thought.
Time to continue on.
