Your forest guide paces ahead of you down the faint path. The
blue fox like creature doesn't appear to have a care in the world at the moment,
so you conclude that the being you'll be visiting next isn't usually dangerous to
Wanderers like yourself.
Eventually you become aware of the fact that something is slinking along with you,
timing it's footfalls to coincide with Guide's. Not only are they much louder then
Guide's footsteps should be, but the sound alternates between the near silent tread
of soft paws and a soft thunking that you would swear belongs to hooves. For a moment
you wonder what sort of creature could possess both hooves and paws, and then memories
of your recent travels return to you. It could be any number of things, you realize.
Figuring that you might as well let the creature know it's been caught, you turn.
To your shock you find yourself staring downwards into a pair of intense green eyes.
The muzzle below the eyes is wearing a smirk, and you realize that some of your surprise
must show on your face.
Waves of blue run down her shoulders. Purple socks and black markings on her shoulders
and rump are set on a white background. The tuft on the end of her twitching tail
is a light shade of blue. "I am DuyFae." Without bothering to greet you
the creature announces herself , still looking rather amused. "And," she
continues, "I am a Tufta, particularly of the Kynnese breed, in case you didn't know."
Before you have any chance to make inquires about the breed comment,
a small blue and white head with fluffy ears and black bangs pokes it's head out
of the bushes at a much lower level then the previous tufta male had. " Saluvidae,
Wanderer. I'm PhiiSa.." The speaker is a female kit, and a cute little thing
at that. A cute, but also slightly creepy kit, you think as you catch sight of her
eyes when she tilts her head to stare into your face. Black with golden pupils, her
eyes make her gaze very difficult to meet directly.
When edges back when you notice her gaze, obviously intending
to fade back into the bushes. However DyuFae steps in, "Why don't you come out
of the bushes, PhiiSa?" The queen asks, leaving the little kit with no real
choice but to edges bit by little bit out of the bushes until she's entirely visible.
PhiiSa's fur is mostly blue, but her belly is white and her front paws are black.
Her tail is somewhat unusual, being a black spade rather then the tuft of fur you're
used to seeing on tufta. You also wonder if her words are simply an echo of something
an adult had said, or if she's simply brighter then the average kit. She stands,
shifting uncomfortably under your scrutiny. "You may have met my Da.."
She comments to break the silence, sounding as if she'd rather be anywhere but here.
You're about to ask who her father is, when something hits
you from behind and nearly grinds you into the dirt. Stumbling forward, you just
barely manage to keep your feet. However, before you have a chance to retaliate (or
completely loose your balance and fall over) the weight drops from your back. Turning
you face your attacker just as DyuFae dryly announces, "That would be TruPaw."
The tufta standing there grinning up at you is either a small
adult or an extremely large kit. Her markings are complicated mix of yellow, gray,
blue, white and black. Yellow stripes march along her spine, while blue breaks up
her mostly gray body at her stomach. There's a marking of some sort on her rump,
and her back legs are a mix of black, gray and white. White separates the blue of
her front paws from the yellow bands along her shoulders. A random piece of streak
contrasts strongly with her mostly golden mane. The tuft on her tail is a pale shade
of gray, and her eyes are green. She looks royally amused with you, Guide, and the
forest in general.
She giggles and begins to bounce around. "Gotcha! Gotcha!
Gotcha!"
There's a quickly muffled giggle from PhiiSa at her fellow
kit's antics.
TruPaw grins at the little kit, and immediately attempts to
tackle the her. There's a gasp from both you and Guide, as the gray kit could possibly
crush the much smaller PhiiSa.
PhiiSa disappears with "pooft!' a sound almost like a
gas bunson burner or small blow torch lighting. All that's left behind is TruPaw
coughing in a cloud of brimstone smoke. You edge away from the cloud, waving your
hand in front of your face in hopes of preventing the smell from reaching your nose.
You notice DyuFae hadn't reacted to the sight of PhiiSa nearly getting squished,
obviously she's seen that maneuver before.
"Aw." Sulks TruPaw when she stops coughing. Obviously
she doesn't realize that PhiiSa is currently perched on a treebranch above her head.
Guide chuckles, "We'd best move on before they get really
rowdy."
