Left
Behind, by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins.
Also a 2000 movie, starring Brad Johnson, Chelsea
Noble, Gordon Currie, and Kirk Cameron. |
When I
read Christian fiction, I expect to find a simple
plot with simple characters facing moral dilemmas
and bad hair days. This is anything but
"simple." This is good. |
Veteran
reporter Buck Williams is asleep on a jumbo jet
over the Atlantic when the Rapture takes place.
He has no idea what has happened. Captain Ray
Steele is piloting a jumbo jet over the Atlantic
when the Rapture takes place. Having been warned
by his "late" wife, Ray knows what is
happening. But millions around the world fear
that some world conqueror has vaporized their
loved ones, or a chemical reaction has caused
spontaneous combustion. Into the void steps
Nicolae Carpathia, a smooth politician from the
Balkans who rises to power in an amazingly short
time. While Ray turns to Christ, Buck remains
unconvinced...but perilously close to Carpathia,
who may very well be the Antichrist himself... |
Left
Behind stays true to the Bible while
presenting a believable look at what may very
well happen tomorrow. It is definitely one of the
best Christian books I've read. |
