Wolf, Black Falcon, by Dennis L. McKiernan. |
The
last book of McKiernan's Mithgar series brings
his story arc to a satisfying completion. It ties
together almost every loose end found throughout
the Mithgar novels, and opens a new door into the
future of McKiernan's world. |

Wolf opens on the final scenes of McKiernan's
The Eye of the Hunter, with the birth of
Bair, the shape-changing Impossible Child of a
man and an elf. As Bair grows up in the hidden
Arden Vale, he is tutored by Aravan, an elf who
is sworn to avenge a five thousand-year-old death
and still searches for the yellow-eyed murderer.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, a
mysterious stone comes into the hands of a young
emperor...and the yellow-eyed man at his side.
With it, they control dragons. When Aravan leaves
the safety of the Vale, Bair follows, narrowly
avoiding the first of many attempts on his life.
As Bair and Aravan are pushed toward the final
confrontation, time becomes their worst enemy,
second only to Gyphon, the Great Evil that only
they can prevent from returning to Mithgar. |

Wolf, Black Falcon is an incredible journey
over deserts, through forests, atop mountains,
and across oceans. But if you have never read a
Mithgar book, you would do best to start at the
beginning...with The Dark Tide, first book
of McKiernan's Iron Tower Trilogy. McKiernan's
world breathes with a life of its own, even
beyond the last pages of his last book. |
