The Princess Bride, starring Cary Elwes and Mandy Patinkin. Based on the book by S. Morgenstern and William Goldman. Music by Mark Knopfler.
The Princess Bride is considered by me and many of my friends to be the best movie ever made, for good reason. It has everything: action, adventure, love, and smashing comedy.
Fred Savage is sick in bed, so his grandpa starts reading him a story...about the lovely Buttercup, who falls in love with a servant boy, Westley. But when Westley is reported dead at sea, Buttercup agrees to marry the powerful Prince of Florin, who really just wants to use her to start a war with Gildor. So he hires three kidnappers who can't manage the job, thanks to the Man in Black following them....After swordfights and battles of wits, Westley is reunited with Buttercup for a trek through the Fire Swamp, where dwell the Rodents of Unusual Size. Upon emerging, the two are again separated, but only until Westley can rescue her yet again.
The Princess Bride is an incredible film, featuring great perfomances by Elwes, Patinkin, and their supporting cast, as well as a hilarious cameo by Billy Crystal. Passing up this film would be "incontheivable!"
