Lightbearer Campaign
"Welcome, and with whom do you travel? You travel alone?!? That is almost
unheard of these days, what with the Horrors all around us. What? You are travelling
about with no idea of what could possibly lurk around the next corner? You truely are a fool."
This is a sample of what T'sarnuth, the Dragon, would say to a traveller of
Barsaive who is ignorant of what is happening in the world around him.
T'sarnuth was an Archer of 13th circle, who travelled with a troupe of... "interesting"
people. The group was composed of the following:
Frusc The Fallen | Ork Weaponsmith/Air Sailor. Quite an astounding character. Quite fond of the 200 year old wine that was discovered in a floating elven castle. He was the door opener of the party. |
Joel of the family Crestmere | Human Swordmaster, One of the stronger members of the party. He could definitely hold his own in combat. He was the possessor of the Ancient Weapon known as NightScar. |
Lenna Teeves The Dragon Kicker | Windling Warrior/Thief, The fastest, strongest, and most annoying character of the party. She earned her "warrior name" in the same castle where Frusc found his wine. Lenna was the party member who would shout our battle cry at the beginning of combat. The windling would bellow out "WE'RE GOING TO DIE!" .. and then would decimate the enemy. Quite an odd character. |
Kalthak Featherleaf | Windling Scout/Warrior, One of the more reclusive characters. Kalthak never had much to say, but let his actions speak for him. He did hold his own in combat, and more often than not, He was Lenna's Partner In Crime. He would distract the "mark" while lenna would snag the goodies. Quite a comical team when you think about it. |
Alicia Riverglow | Elven Wizard, She was the Magic Weilder of the party. Unknown to us in the party, she was also on the last leg of the path of the lords. Quite a powerhouse for an elf. |
Mardoc | Orc Warrior, He was the original power behind the party, but met an untimely end while we were escaping from being imprisioned in the kingdom of throal. The reason for that imprisionment was simply a test set up for me from an outside group. |
Gerrad The Archer Boy | Human Archer, A young archer whom I took under my wing when we rescued him from an undiscovered caer in the middle of the mist swamps. He would also be my replacement when I met my demise in the troll moot home that contained a Greater Dragon. |
Badur The True | Orc Nethermancer, When you meet this young Orc, and find out his true nature, his "warrior name" will make you laugh. He is a Nethermancer by Pattern, but he imitates a Warrior. He had another Warrior teach him the skills of a Warrior, and walks around with all who look upon him thinking he is a warrior. Aside from this quirk, he was a fellow adventurer of great renown and even greater arrogance. |
Darren | Human Illusionist, Despite the fact that this man blurred the truth with his abilities, he was still a good friend and a greater companion. His demise at the hands of the Vampire was a great loss to humanity as a whole. He shall always be missed. |
T'Sarnuth The Dragon | T'skrang Archer, And finally, there is me. I was the original archer of this group, and was known all over barsaive for the legendary bow that I carried. The name of the bow is Jik'harra, which in the tongue of my people roughly translates to "Brave Passion". Alas, when I passed, the bow went to Gerrad, and after the party dissolved, he was taken by a Vampire that we encountered earlier, became a sniper, and used Jik'Harra to hunt the party. |
The Story
One Autumn evening, while on my travels in search of a lost childhood
friend, I happened upon a small village just off the Serpent River. Wary from
my travels, I decided to stop in and rest for a few days before travelling
on. The village was bustling with activity, and banners proclaiming
the upcoming Harvest Festival were flying everywhere. I had decided to
stay and enjoy some time with the clay of the earth that lived here.
I stopped by the local tavern/inn and purchased a room for the evening.
After preparing myself, I headed on down to the tavern to be greeted by
the scents of food cooking, music playing, and the sight of people dancing.
I noticed that there were several people in the place that looked like they
had been travelling themselves. Not being one to "Strike up" conversation,
I just sat back and kept an eye on the ones that looked to be trouble, namely
the Orc sitting at the bar and drinking heavily. After a short time, I noticed
the human that had been sitting with the Orc wandering over towards
the table at which I was sitting. He was nice enough, trying to strike up
a casual conversation. After half an hour of talking with the man who
called himself Joel, I decided to head outside and get some fresh air. As
I was standing outside in the crisp air when I heard a shriek from down the
street. I ran back inside as Joel, the Orc, and the Elf came outside. We decided
to go and see if there were any trouble in this town. The Orc was the first to
get inside the house and see the nastiness that had happened inside. In
one of the rooms there lay a young maiden, slain, with a small child laying
in a crib on the other side of the room. One bloodied thumb print was on
the child's cheek, and bloodied footprints were found to be leading out
of the door. As Joel and I moved through the house to find the murderer,
Mardoc, as he introduced himself, was searching for hidden panels or any-
thing that a theif could have used to hide here to assassinate the woman.
With the entire house checked and clear, we had decided to head back to
the inn to inform someone of what had transpired. Mardoc opened the door,
and one of the most panic stricken looks crossed his face. He slammed the
door shut and ushered us all upstairs. We were all asking what was going
on as we were being herded upstairs, I glanced outside and saw what
seemed to be the entire village out in streets wandering aimlessly, until you
looked closer. Their eyes had become vacant of all emotion, except
for the feeling of HATRED. And that is when we realized they had become
Cadaver Men, meaning that there was more at work here than just a
murdered woman and an innocent infant.
