Chapter One NC-17
by Sgt.SpleenEater
Trashed
"Eagle 1, Eagle 1, this is Forward Air Base One... come back Commander." The slight hiss of the interplanetary radio communcations network filled my ears as I strained to listen for any reply whatsoever. Leaned far over the table and propped right over the receiver unit I jumped in surprise when it suddenly screamed to life!
"Forward Air Base One, this is Eagle Commander..I'm comin' to your location fast and I got maybe 20 Zergs on my ass! Do you copy?", she sounded slightly frantic, but hey, who wouldn't be when your on the bad end of some Zerglings?
"I copy Eagle, bring it in."
I turned and shouted at my second in command, "Hey Trooper, get that gate fired up, I want all 14 cannons ready to kick some Zerg ass, got it?" He nodded a yes and ran like hell down the hall. I sat and pondered our predicament...
The Legion has sent a 12 cruiser fleet to scan a new galaxy on the verge of the Zerg and Terran borderline. They figured if we could get a stronghold there we would have the upper hand as far as property goes, and in the long run the property may just turn the tide in The Great War.
I wasn't even close to being the Eagle Commanders second in the Fleet, however, I was the Sergeant at Arms aboard her Flagship 'The Moon', the day the **** hit the fan. The lead cruisers of the twelve were on screen one second, and the next they were giant orbs of glowing red fire that eerily lit the eternally dark galactic skies. Red lights and sirens screamed to life aboard the Flagship as her bow and command deck were pelted with the bodies of our lead cruisers dead. Blips were turning up all over the scanners, I looked twice to make sure I wasn't only guessing when I said we were being attacked from the front by Zergs and the the rear by Terrans. In short, we were toasted.
"Commander you better come with me!", I shouted as I saw our Charlie element of three cruisers disappear from scan.
"What? Why in the hell didn't our Scouts pick an attack of this size up and call it back to us God damnit!?", she screamed furiously.
"I don't know ma'am, but with all due respect, if you wanna save that ass of yours you'd better come with me NOW!" The blatant diregard for normality in my voice seemed to urge her along as she scrambled from her captains chair.
"Where to Sergeant?", she yelled as the first Terran laser ripped through our hull somewhere aft, rocking the whole ship.
"Ma'am, I think we better head for the Nexus Pods, our only chance is to grab one or two and shoot outta here, hopefully undetected, and aim for a close planetoid."
We careened down the ships central hall and slid into the Nexus Bay as the Flagship started to keel to her left. Just as the we tumbled through the hatch into the bay, a young Trooper ran smack into me, unleashing a soul wrenching scream. Both of his arms were severed at the shoulder and bright red blood sprayed in streams from his gaping wounds. I pushed him to the floor and shot him twice in the head with my side arm. A knowing glance from the Commander was good enough for me to justify that I had put him out of his misery.
"Ok ma'am, your call, one or two Nexus Pods?" I shouted behind me.
"Two! Better odd's on at least one of us surviving."

Chapter Two NC-17
by Sgt.SpleenEater
Crashed
"Damn that hurts!" I yelled to nobody in particular as my Nexus Pod crashed into the planets surface and skidded along jostling my crew and I like Martini (not stirred).
I had taken half the Nexus Bay crew in my Pod and the Commander had taken the other half in hers. I'd lost radio communications with her almost as soon as we left the Flagship. It had blown into a million pieces and a small fragment had smacked our Pod.... right at the communications dish. I did however, get a visual of her Nexus Pod leaving 'The Moon' and my Pod crew had fed me reports of seeing her on our aft as we fled into space.
Shortly after leaving the cruiser I had begun my scan of the closest planetoids that could support Protoss life. Almost immediately I found one far enough away from the contact site that I didn't think they would look for us there, but close enough that the Nexus Pod would make it with plenty of fuel left over for an undetermined amount of operations. God only knew how long we'd be stuck here.
Feeling my head, I felt nothing more than a few minor bruises from the Nexus crash. This was good being that we had no Doc Troop aboard. I had learned Basic Field Medicine at the Sin Slayers Academy, one of the many Academies that produced protoss Troopers and Officers. I'd never expected to make Officer, and didn't, something about 'blatant disregard for authority, but a damn fine soldier', I grinned as I remembered the words of my Field Instructor. Anyhow, other than basic practical first-aid, all I knew to do was put a troop out of his misery. Strange, nobody ever came to see me with an injury..
"Ok Troops, get this damn ship operational!" I yelled at my crew. If any of them were too injured to work, nobody wanted to show it. Within minutes the Nexus was properly grounded and operations had begun to produce SCV's, (****ty Crew Vehicle's) the small trucks that were designed to gather ore and constuct buildings.
We had four SCV's aboard already and I put them straight out to gather ore that we could process into workable metals. As the first four brought in ore, the crew began building more SCV's to gather vesperous gas's to make fuel. At the close of the daily lunar mark we had established 5 buildings and found the only entrance into the canyon we had landed in and established an ECP (Entry Control Point).
Daily lunar marks were the equivelant to a 24 hour Protossian day. In deep space one couldn't rely on a normal rising and falling of a sun (or three) to mark the beginning and end of the day, so The Legion had created the Lunar mark system, which seemed to work out quite well for Trooper work/rest periods.
At the close of the second lunar mark we had established a full base, our ECP had 14 anti-air anti-personell cannons, and the west and south perimeter were also lined with anti-aircraft ion cannons. We were ready for any minor assaults, and my next concern was for the crew aboard the second Nexus that we had lost contact with.
I had Radio Trooper 1st Class Wolf repair the interplanetary communications radio soon after we had crashed, but even though he assured me wholeheartedly that it was fixed, I couldn't seem to raise the Commander and her crew aboard the other Nexus.. I sat hunched over the radio hour after hour calling out the proper raising hail...
"Eagle 1, Eagle 1, This is Forward Air Base One, do you copy?"

Thrashed
"Eagle 1, Eagle 1, this is Forward Air Base One... come back Commander." The slight hiss of the interplanetary radio communcations
network filled my ears as I strained to listen for any reply whatsoever.
Leaned far over the table and propped right over the receiver unit I jumped in surprise when it suddenly screamed to life!
"Forward Air Base One, this is Eagle Commander..I'm comin' to your
location fast and I got maybe 20 Zergs on my ass! Do you copy?"
Not only did I copy but I had men operating my Entry Control Point cannons in seconds flat.
The 'BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!' of my forward cannons alerted me that not only was the Commander atthe gates, but so were some baddy's that needed their ass's shoved up their innards by my ion weapons.
I clicked on the Public Announcement radio and shouted out "Look sharp Troopers, the Big Boss is inbound, and we don't wanna look like we've been sitting on our ass's here do we?" I straightened out what almost resembled a uniform and left my Mobile Command Post to greet Eagle One.
"Howdy Boss", I grinned as she bailed out of her SCV and straightened herself out.
"Hello Sergeant" she replied, "looks like you've had better luck than us, our Nexus Pod landed too closely to a Zerg nest and we have been attacked continuously since touch down."
"No prob Boss, you can set up wherever you want inside my perimeter, it's safe for now" I continued, "We have however had Terran probe sightings to our south."
"Sergeant, I wont stay long, I already deployed two SCV's from our column to a canyon just west of you, I should be able to establish operations there shortly."
The Commander strode off into the Barracks in search of a shower and I jumped into a waiting SCV to evaluate the damage at my forward cannons. One never got through a Zerg rush without at least minimal damage.
Sure enough, I had sustained damage at the two ion cannons closest to the assault, but luckily they were as predicted... minimal.
"Trooper Jenn!" I shouted at a passing troop, "How far along are the Stargates?"
"Sergeant", she replied "the Stargates are at 75% completion, they should be ready to receive transports within the mark."
Well that was good news anyhow, now I had to find trooper Wolf and see if he hjad an uplink to an Legion ComSat (Communications Sattellite). Hopefully the legion had a ComSat far enough out that they would recieve our hails and send Carriers through a Stargate somewhere within reason. I knew it would be lightyears before The Legion could get a Fleet out here, but hopefully they could pass me through a few carriers (or twenty).
I approached the Communications Array and saw Trooper Wolf bent over some gadget. "Hey Trooper, how far are we from talking to a Comsat?"
Trooper Wolf spun around with a big grin on his face, "Sergeant I've already established a link to The Legion and they are on line for you!"
"Woohoooo Trooper!" I shouted a little too loudly as I took the reciever from him. With one hand I hit the 'open comm' button, and with the other I entered in my Sergeants ID code into Trooper Wolf's rank epaulet. "There ya go Wolf, you're a Corporal now." I winked as I turned to face the radio.
"This is Fleet Admiral Alt, with whom am I now speaking?" the voice came clearly across the radio.
"Admiral, this is Sergeant 'SpleenEater' Cinte, Sergeant at Arms of the late Cruiser 'The Moon'."
"Well Sergeant, gimme a damn SitRep (Situation report)" came back Alt's reply.
I proceeded to tell him the story such far in it's entirety, and explained the our Condition of Readiness. He was for some reason surprised by the fact that we were still alive, and even more surprised when I told him Commander Eagle was also alive and ready too proceed with a new AOR (Are of Operations).
"Ok Sergeant, I will send 100 Carriers to the Zulu quadrant for your disposal, there is a stargate there that should get them to you. The Legion will mount another Fleet to proceed to your location, I need you and the Commander to make every attempt to secure that planet. A planety under our control in that quadrant would be worth it's wait in minerals if we could establish a Fleet base there. And have the Commander hail me as soon as she is established in her secondary base."
"Sir, yes Sir" I replied as I returned the reciever to it's cradle.
I had hoped on getting enough Carriers to defend my Base for an undetermined amount of time, but now it looked like the Commander and I had a campaign on our hands........

Chapter Four NC-17
by Sgt.SpleenEater
Smashed
The Air Campaign was off to a bad start. I had sent 3 arbitors, 2 observers, and 8 carriers with full interceptor loads to attack the base below me and none of them had returned. All 13 and their crew were now pink mist. Not good.
The base perimeter was secured tighter than a ducks ass though, and I had sent air support over to the Commanders base as well. She had done slightly better than I in securing property, taking a canyon to her east from the very Zergs that had routed her earlier. Her base perimeter was not faring so well. The gate there was being constantly pummeled by the enemy to my south, and my carriers at her gate were defending as best they could alongside her ion cannons. The enemy apparently didn't like her much. Maybe, like me, they had 'a blatant disregard for authority' too. I grinned again at my own sarcastic humor.
The enemy. Now that was a whole differant story. We knew from the initial rush's that there were Zergs to the east and south, but the enemy to west and southwest were a complete surprise. Protoss! Why in the hell Protossians would attack Protossians was beyond me, but then again these were not Legion Protoss, and after being on a planet with Zergs forever, who could blame them for attacking anything that moved? I could.... the bastards.
I sent an SCV to the canyon Eagle had acquired and constructed a Nexus there. Eagle had full ops going there, as the minerals and vespean gas geysers in her canyon disappeared. She had also mounted attacks on the Protoss to my south, and like myself, had lost all troops sent out.
The Zergs didn't seem much of a threat, so we had concentrated out attacks on the enemy below me, but our efforts had so far failed miserably. I was even now building a new and larger fleet of carriers to remount the attack. The alien Protoss had some freaky dudes running around their base that took my initial carriers and completely trashed them in seconds flat. On the scanner it appeared they had perfected the power of Archon, a strange yet powerful molding of two Templars to create a 'superbeing' that could smash anything that moved (or didn't). The Legion didn't teach us much about using Templars and Archon so I really didn't have a clue as to what to do about them yet. Luckily Admiral Alt had sent a scientist on the last transport and I had him steadily working to unlock the Archon secret.
Meanwhile, my new carrier fleet was finished and ready for an assault. I began moving them to the enemy perimeter when scan picked up a flurry of activity at Eagle's base.
I jumped on the radio, "Eagle 1, Eagle 1, this is Forward Air Base One! Mind your gate! You are under heavy attack and my carriers there are going down fast!"
"I see it Sergeant, and I'm on it, but I'm down on minerals and the new east base is under attack as well!" she replied in a forlorn voice.
Deciding the attack on the southern Protoss could wait and shifted my fleet to cover the area just below her gate to intercept any incoming aircraft. And intercept I did! 6 Protoss carriers and 4 Scouts were on the way to knock down eagles front door. Their only mistake was not assigning an arbitor to their carriers. I had two (grin).
I made short work of the incoming attack, got all ballsy, and decided to attack the front gate of the Protoss. No problem! They had no gate! "Woohooooo!" I shouted, "I got 'em now Eagle!" I shouted over the open air waves.
Man was I wrong. Sure they had no gate. They didn't need one, twenty Archons ripped into my fleet from nowhere and once again all I had left was.... pink mist.
"Eagle, I think we're gonna have to combine forces and rush them all at once. If you're ground troops could take out those Archons I can annihilate that base."
"I'm trying Sarge," she came back, "I'm sending troops nonstop to attack them, but I can pull them back and wait I guess."
I considered it for a second or two then radioed back "No, keep harrassing them, try and keep them weak and I'll build one massive air fleet.......
My final observer limped back home to reassign itself to the new fleet.

Chapter Five NC-17
by Sgt.SpleenEater
Mashed
The next Fleet was ready. I had 14 carriers, 5 arbitors, and three observers. Eagle had roughly 40 ground troops and 5 carriers of her own escorted by yet another arbitor. We both moved our troops to the enemy Protoss border and waited breathlessly to place our Troopers in optimal fighting positions.
"Ready Eagle?"
"Ready."
" Go! Go! Go!"
Our combined troops pushed into the enemy encampment. It's northern border was trashed from previous air assaults, but the main base itself was still entirely operational. Our troops poured in like ants on a dropped lollypop.
"****! Those damn Archons are thrashing me again! AND they got me locked down!" I was pissed.
"I'm PISSED!"
"Me too hun", came Eagles dismal reply. Her Troopers too were being wiped up like table crumbs. "Sarge, I have The Legion on comm and they say it's ok to back down."
"Sorry Boss, but I NEVER quit..." was all I could choke out I was so pissed.
Again I limped back to my base in my last observer. I was FUMING mad! What the HELL was I sposed to do now!?
I was on my last available supply of minerals, vespean geysers long depleted, and stored minerals and gas dangerously low.
"GOD I'm pissed" I shouted again.
"This is going to be a looong campaign" was Eagles solace.
I laughed at our situation. It was so screwed up it was funny. What were we gonna do next? Eagle was even lower on stores than I was.
"Ok **** it!"* I was even using the nastiest language now, "they wanna play Archons? I'll build a whole Goddamn army of freakin Archons and play it their way!"
Eagle laughed and replied that she too would build Archons. Cool, now we'd fight on their terms. The bastards.
I immediately built a second barracks and started growing Templars. My scientist had figured out their secrets and promised me I could control them without a problem.
"Ok Boss, I'm on my way with Archons," I called out, "you about ready?"
Was she ever. She must've had twice as many as I did. So we rolled out the Archon freaks and headed toward the Protoss entry point. Too bad we didn't know how to use the bastards. We got cut down again.
"Ok, how the hell are they so damn accurate with these guys?" I asked.
"Dunno."
"Hmmm..."
I went back to growing more Archons. I grew a few. Then I grew a few more. Then I grew a ****load more. I had twenty Archons now. "Ok Boss, ready for another push?"
"Yep, meet me in the center."
I rolled my twenty freaks into the center and met her forty. Jesus how the hell did she grow so many so fast?
"I build fast," she answered my question before I could ask it.
"Ok lets rock."

Chapter Six NC-17
by Sgt.SpleenEater
Victory Sweet Victory!
Eagle and I attacked. This was it. We had lost the canyon on the far east and all our structures there were toast. We had like 100 minerals between us, and not enough gas for a decent fart.
"Go! Go! Go!" I screamed!
In we rolled. Expecting their Archons to meet ours we first attcked their oncoming freak force. we had five freaks to every one of theirs! "Wooooohooooo!" I shouted again! After their ground forces were smashed like tomatos in a blender, we moved onto their aircraft. Again no problem.
"We ****in' ROCK!"
Eagle replied with a sarcastic motion, something like *wails on her guitar*
The enemy Protoss force was gone. FINALLY. The worst of the worst was over and we knew how to take the rest. These Archon guys freakin rocked.
"I'm going to the east" Eagle stated rather calmly now.
"I'm with ya" came my reply.
After rerouting my SCV's the the newly acquired property to gather minerals and gas, I started again creating even more Archons.
Ok needles to say within 15 minutes we totally annihilated most of the planet and put up little signs that said crap like "Eat more spleen" and "The Eagles Nest" We rolled over the planet like the Huns smashing, trashing, mashing, and crashing everything in sight.
Until we came to a third Protoss site. They had a boatload and a half of aircraft, and our battle weakened Archons didn't make it through the skirmish. BUT, we sent our newly acquired Archon armies to meet up again in the center and rolled like buffalo back down to the skirmish site.
We made their aircraft commanders lick our boots before we put them to slow miserable deaths.
After picking off the remnant scattered survivors of the enemy forces we craked a bottle of Protossian Champagne and drank to our success... and as usual I hunkered down over the body of the last twitching enemy, sliced him open from chin to hip, ripped out his spleen, and slipped it down my parched throat.
End.
