I
was in the bookstore the other day and I ran across that cool book, Haunted
Places. Since I have been looking for local ghosts, I immediately
opened it to the Texas section, and focused on the DFW metroplex,
well there were 3 listings, 2 in the Dallas area, and 1 in Fort Worth.
The book listed Fort Worth Books and Videos as the haunted place in all
of Fort Worth. I bet there are more, but for now, this will do.
There was only a little snippet about how the manager of the store says
that there are strange things going on, lights, noises, the usual.
I noted the address as 400 main st., so I went downtown and parked on my
quest for Fort Worth Books and Videos. I found 400 main st. It is
a really cool looking old building that looks to be 4 stories, and a basement
floor. It is now a chocolate shop, but the shop only takes up 1 half of
the ground floor. I went in and asked the guy behind the counter if this
used to be Ft. Worth Books and Video, and he said yes, a long time ago,
I then asked about the other floors in the building, I said "what's
up there, offices?". I shouldn't have given him an answer to copy because
he came back with "Uh, yeah...offices". I then asked if he had ever
heard about the history of this place, he said nope. I thought I had bugged
him enough, so I said thanks, and left.
I have yet to call and ask about the ghostly story behind the building,
but if anyone knows what's going on downtown, please e-mail me with
the scoop!
