OLD PUMP STATION
The White Rock Pump Station, recently renovated, began dispensing chlorinated water to the residents of Dallas in 1913. In 1930 the lake ceased to be used a water supply.

The building is presently in use as the Water Operations Control Center of the Dallas Water Utilities.

OLD FISH HATCHERY NATURE TRAIL
A nature trail, maintained by the Dallas Audubon Society, takes hikers through some of the most densely-wooded portions of the park, where a wide variety of plant and animal life can be seen. This section includes the old fish hatchery (no longer in use) and a plot of land once known as the "pea patch," where, during the early part of this century, county prisoners were put to work.

A WORD OF CAUTION: It is not advisable to go hiking alone in this area. It is best to go with a group.

The entrance is off White Rock Drive, adjacent to the Old Pump Station parking lot.

Legend has it that Devil Worshipers used to meet out at the Old Fish Hatchery, many years ago.
Next, the stories were that the Dallas Scorpions (a motorcycle gang) hung out down there.  It is an ideal place for both groups, it is isolated, dreary, dark, and not monitored to closely.
I went down there myself just the other day, and I ran into some individuals who did not speak english, and were sitting around using switch blades to clean their nails, and write stuff on the benches.
I quickly turned around and went back out!
