Pain courses throughout my body
Pain in my bones
Coursing up my tendons and through my nerves
To end, pounding blackness in my head
For I have tried to fly
And in so doing I have fallen,
To lie broken and bleeding upon the ground,
But I will not give up trying until the day I die!
When I am whole again, I will strive once more to reach the sky
And if I do before I have achieved this you ask?
Then, in death, I will be content
For in that death I am born again
And have finally reached my goal
May they welcome me with open arms,
As a father would an estranged son
Or a shepherd a lost lamb,
For I have journeyed far from their guided path
That I now seek again
And so I shall hope that I find it again
Before death claims me as its own, but e'en in death there is new life
And I will pray, Nay, only hope, that this gift shall be granted me
