- An adolescent vampire; one older than a neonate but younger than an elder.
Antediluvian
- One of the eldest Cainites, one of the third generation.
Autarkis
- A vampire that refuses to be a part of Cainite society and recognizes no prince.

Book of Nod, The
- The book which tells of the curse of Caine, the first vampire and our progenator (see Progeny).
Blood Oath
- A potent bond between vampires which can grant mystical power over the bound one.

Cainite
- A vampire, one desendent from Caine.
Caitiff
- A derogatory term for a vampire with no clan
Canaille
- The mortal populace, especially the most unsavory and those lacking in culture, the ones that we feed most often.
Childe
- A term used for a young or foolish vampire.
Clan
- A group of vampires who share certain innate characteristics.
Coterie
- A group of Cainites who protect and support one another against all outsiders.
Consanguineus
- One of the same lineage (usually a younger member).

Diablerie
- The act of feeding upon other vampires, either out of need or perversion.
Domain
- The fiefdom claimed by a vampire that other vampires must acknowledge.
E
Elysium
- The name given for the places where the elders meet and gather, commonly public places of culture.
Embrace, The
- The act of transforming a mortal into a vampire by first draining all of their blood, then replacing a bit of it with the vampire's own blood.

Fledgling
- A young, newly created vampire.
G
Generation
- The number of steps away from Caine a vampire is...Caine's progeny were of the second generation, their get were the third, and so on.
Gehenna
- The end of the world, Armageddon, when the Antediluvians shall awaken and devour all vampires.
Ghoul
- A servant created by allowing a mortal being to drink Cainite blood without first draining it.
Golconda
- A state of being for vampires where a balance in found between the beast and the soul, to some it is seen as the only true path to salvation.

Haven
- The home of a vampire or the place where it sleeps.
Hunger, The
- The insatiable urge to feed that takes on a central importance in the life of a vampire.
J
Jyhad, The
- The secret war waged between the few surviving vampires of the third generation. Also used as a general term to describe any war between vampires.
K
Kine
- A contemptuous term for mortals, used in opposition to the word Cainite.
Kiss
- To take the blood of a mortal, or the act of taking blood in general.

Lextalionis
- The code of vampires, allegedly created by Caine. It suggests ideas related to "An Eye For An Eye...".
Lineage
- The bloodline of a vampire, traced by Embrace
Lupine
- A werewolf, the dire enemy of the vampires.

Methuselah
- An elder who no longer lives among the other Cainites. Many belong to the Inconnu.

Neonate
- A young, newly created vampire.
O
Osiris
- A vampire that surrounds themselves with a cult or coven to better obtain sustenance.
P
Prince
- The vampire in charge of a fiefdom who is able to defend the title. Is the same in the feminine form.
Praxis
- The right of princes to rule, as well as the rules, laws and customs enforced by a particular prince.
Progeny
- A collective term for all the vampires created by one sire. Less formally known as Get.
R
Regnant
- One who has a Blood Oath over another Cainite through giving the said Cainite blood on three seperate occassions.
Retainers
- Humans that serve a vampire master that are usually either Dominated or are ghouls.
S
Sire
- The parent-creator of a vampire, used as both the male and female form.
Siren
- A vampire that seduces mortals and does not kill them, rather choosing to put them to sleep and drain just a small amount of blood.
Suspire
- The dream dance during the final stage of the quest for Golconda.
T
Thrall
- A vampire who is held under the Blood Oath, and thus is under the control of another Cainite.

Vessel
- A potential or past source of blood, typically a human.
Vitae
- An ancient term for blood.

Whelp
- A contemptuous term for one's own progeny.
