The kingdom of Angel's Crest lies in the southeastern region of the Realm of Dreams, aptly named for the presence and importance of magic in the area.

Ages ago, a young princess named Jade fled her homeland, driven away by the injustice and tyranny practiced by the kings of Shoryu.  She came to a tiny, unnamed village in the wilderness within the kingdom of D'Nalyram, a thousand miles from her homeland.  The people who lived there were also oppressed by their rulers, and Jade decided to make her stand there.  The people of Angel's Crest saw Jade's coming as a sign, since she represented their ideals.  She broke all the traditional rules of conformity: she was a woman who not only governed a nation, but she was also brave and strong-willed.  She rallied the people to rise against their oppressor, and through the grace of the elder gods, they won their freedom.  The people crowned Jade their first ruler, and she christened the new kingdom "Angel's Crest," for it was a symbol of those who guided them to freedom.

    Angel's Crest first saw real power and prosperity under the rule of Queen AlthÆa I, only half a century ago. Under her guidance, Angel's Crest opened regular trading with surrounding nations, including Dakren and faraway cousin Phyta. The kingdom came into great wealth during the reign of AlthÆa, and as of yet, their hardly experienced army saw virtually no combat. AlthÆa bore twin daughters, Katharine and Paige, of which Katharine was the elder and rightful heiress to the throne, the throne of the kingdom AlthÆa effectively put on the map.
 

The kingdom's most memorable achievement. Built after Angel's Crest was officially recognized after its founding, the citizens all worked together to build a castle for their nation.  Before being recognized as an legitimate, separated community from any other kingdom, the community that would be Angel's Crest was ruled from afar under the kingdom of D'Nalyram.  Since establishing its own kingdom, all of Jade's line of descendants have lived in Ravensong after the castle was built, and the people willingly embraced all their rulers.

    The Dark Wars is the collective name for the four wars fought against invading kings from the Realm of Darkness. Though the Angel's Crest armies had had some experience repelling small invasions at its borders, they were yet to fight a full-scale war.

The first invader was Roga, king of Darpha, who attacked during the reign of Queen AlthÆa. His armies appeared from a portal beyond the borders and they charged forth. Angel's Crest's armies proved of little defense against the seemingly overwhelming warlord.

Fearing the worst, AlthÆa separated her daughters, still young, and sent them to different parts of the kingdom. Hopefully, they would survive long enough to learn their birthright and reclaim the kingdom, someday.

Just as AlthÆa sent her daughters to safety, Roga reached Castle Ravensong with little obstruction, and when the queen refused to surrender the kingdom, Roga killed her himself. Roga proved unsuccessful, however, as AlthÆa's captain, David Colestone, became enraged. Seeking revenge, Colestone and his soldiers violently attacked Roga's forces, causing them to retreat. He had saved the day, but it was too late.
 

Determined to finish what Roga started, Lord Arkhane sent Emperor Megas to Angel's Crest. He crushed their weakened forces and subjected its people to a fifteen-year reign of terror. Katharine, still a child, was discovered and imprisoned.

Paige, the daughter of a simple farmer named Jonas Robard, learned the truth about her past and left to seek justice for the kingdom and for her mother, whom she remembered so vaguely they might as well have never met.





After being given the mystical sword Dragonwing, Jade's heirloom for each eldest warrior descendant, by a loyal mage, she searched for years for her twin. Reunited and enraged, they proved unstoppable to Megas's forces and returned Angel's Crest to its rightful rule under the descendants of Jade. Katharine assumed her rightful place as queen.

Years later, after both Paige and Katharine had matured considerably, Roga returned to Angel's Crest. He wanted to finish his quest, attempting to finish AlthÆa's family, and in effect, the entire line of Jade. During this war, Paige met a wanderer from the north named Kayin Aeola, and he joined them in their quest.  Milan D'Mitri, rebel daughter of Baron D'Mitri, also joined them, leading the troops against Roga. She sought vengeance for her father, whom Roga betrayed.
