Malayan mythological demon believed to be the spirit of a woman who
died in childbirth. Her stillborn child would become a potianak or
nati-anak, a type of vampire. A demon on the form of an owl. She wears robes of
green and has long nails, jet black hair which hanges to her ankles and
she sucks the blood of children through a hole in the back of her neck.
To destroy her murderess nature, her nails and hair must be cut and
stuffed into the hole. At that she'll become a "normal human female"
submissive and tame. Some myths state that certain Langsuyars have
married and bore regular children, but she often reverts to her other
form (the owl) and will fell to the forest. Sometimes also spelt:
Langhui.
