.....Originally a District Attorney in a large American city, Brian Butler became Mr. Scarlet to further eliminate the criminal element. Unfortunately, he and his son Pinky were TOO sucessful in their adventures, as they had reduced the crime rate to virtually nothing. As a cost saving measure, Brian was let go as a paid attorney and spent the next several years doing odd jobs to earn a living.
.....Mr. Scarlet was also a member of the Crime Crusuaders Club, and both he and his sidekick Pinky retired in 1948. Pinky recently took up the Mr. Scarlet identity on an emergency basis, even though he is in his late sixties. He revealed to Captain Marvel that the original Mr. Scarlet is very much in retirement.
.....Mr. Scarlet possessed no super-human abilities, and was a good hand to hand fighter, using his deductive abilites to solve crimes.
