The next morning, Zack was walking into Acme Headquarters. A huge pig nearly mowed him down. "Uh, Chief?" Zack asked. "I can understand why we'd need Stretch here, but why Hogzilla?" Ivy stormed in. Uh oh, Zack thought. Ivy's got her mad face on. No matter what I say or do today, I'm gonna get slugged. The Chief looked alarmed. "I'm so glad you're here! We've got rumors that Pretty Boy Lloyd is on the loose!" "Uh, Chief?" Ivy asked. "Isn't that Pretty Boy Floyd?" "No, not Floyd Barker or whatever his name was! Lloyd Schweitzer!" "Who?", both siblings asked. "Carmen tells me she suspects that Lloyd's still around--" "Back up!" Ivy interrupted. "Is Lloyd Schweitzer another criminal Carmen put away?" The Chief looked thoughtful. "Kinda yes and kinda no. Lloyd Schweitzer was a criminal Carmen and Suhara pursued, but never caught. The year was 1987." "So this was after Maelstrom?" Zack noted. "Ah, Schweitzer and Maelstrom. Fierce rivals," the Chief informed. "In 85, when Maelstrom was captured, Lloyd Schweitzer's laugh could be heard clear across the globe." "And you said Lloyd was never caught," Ivy observed. "So, in a way, he did succeed where Maelstrom failed." "So, whatever happened to Lloyd?" Zack asked. The Chief started again. "Carmen and Suhara were on Pretty Boy Lloyd's trail and tracked him to Miami. Lloyd was determined not to be caught, so he leaped off the Sunshine Skyway." Zack looked curious. "So he drowned in Tampa Bay?" "Precisely!" the Chief stated. "At least that's what's believed now. The body was never found. All that was left was a piece of his suit. Now, believe me. This guy was a fashion plate. He always wore this black suit with silver pinstripes. But now Carmen claims Lloyd's alive. I'm bringing up his dossier now." Just then, a mail carrier came in. "Letter for Acme." Zack took the envelope and opened it. He gasped and held it up. "Looks like Lloyd is alive. This note says he's going to show up on the Sunshine Skyway in an hour." Ivy snatched the note. "This is great! Look, little bro, if we capture Lloyd Schweitzer, it'll give us a chance to succeed where Carmen has failed!" "But don't you remember what happened when we tried to catch Carmen and Maelstrom at once?" Ivy glared. Zack resigned. "OK, we'll go. But how will we know which one's Lloyd?" "He'll be wearing pinstripes, silly." In thirty minutes, zack and Ivy had traveled to Miami, scouting the area. Above them, on the bridge, stood a dak figure. Zack looked up. "Lloyd Schweitzer--tall, dark hair, and pinstriped suit?" He pointed to the bridge. Ivy grabbed him. "Let's go!" The Strangeman siblings charged, but they were too late. Lloyd was on a rope attached to an airplane. "Ah, Acme detectives", he noted while being lifted. He then shouted, "Why don't you kids just go buy a pig and go truffle hunting?" "Blast it!" Ivy cried in frustration. "You know," Zack commented. "Maybe we should take his advice. We already got the pig." Ivy punched him in the arm. "Ow," Zack whispered. "I knew I was going to get slugged." A voice spoke. "Ivy, you sounded like me." Ivy spun around. "Carmen Sandiego!" Carmen glanced up. "Lloyd Schweitzer hasn't changed a bit. He still looks the same, however he managed to do it." "So he gave you the same kind of slip?" piped up Zack. "Ah, yes," Carmen replied. "The day he leaped off the bridge, he said, "Like Hannibal, I refuse to fall into enemy hands." The Chief appeared. "Say, Carmen. We can close your case if we catch Lloyd now." "That would be lovely, Chief." Zack pointed up. "Look what Lloyd's plane left!" He motioned to words in the clouds. "Skywriting!" Carmen exclaimed. "That's how Lloyd passed messages to his henchmen." Ivy read the message. "Call 844-2984. If that's a real phone number, maybe we can intercept the phone conversation."
