*"all things", 7x17*
Where to begin here...first of all, snaps to Gillian Anderson for a most impressive job well-done! This entire episode dealt with Scully's realizations that fate sometimes takes us on to the path we believe is wrong, but turns out to be right. We choose our own Destiny. The most interesting part of this ep was the music, and the idea that, every timethe camera slowed down, it was as if she was choosing her next course of action, in effect, choosing her adventure or picking her fate. The music was absolutely amazing, and all's I've heard about it is rave reviews and "where can I get a copy?" Truth be told, I have no idea where to get a copy of that soundtrack, but it was most excellent in the way it played in your nerves and gave you an impression of what Scully was actually feeling.
Even more interesting, perhaps, is Scully's beliefs. They have obviously undergone a metomorphosis in the past few days as she opens herself up to alternative medicine and new beliefs. Her vision in front of the Buddha is wonderful. She sees past every person and event in her life only to find the truth concerning Daniel and herself, and his condition.
I'm still confused about the beginning, before the opening credits. It totally appeared as if Mulder and Scully had slept together, and then it flashes to '63 Hours Before'. At the end, there is no evidence of the two characters in bed together, only the two sharing a moment, Scully falling asleep, and Mulder tenderly touching her hair and covering her up with a blanket. Perhaps this was what REALLY should have happened as opposed to what happened in the opening scenes. Anyone could see that Scully didn't seem at all happy as to what she and Mulder had just done, and for everything to turn out the way it did was sort of cute. Mulder was totally trying to make a move on her, and she instead fell asleep as he spoke.
As for Scully's past, with Daniel, I found it remarkable that she was able to tel him goodbye and put one more unresolved issue in her life to rest. She made the right choices when it came to romance and her career, because her romance with Daniel was destructive. She is flattered and confused when he tells her that she is all he lives for, and that he even followed her to D.C. Any woman would want to hear that, no matter how independent she is. But she knows that she is a very different person, and that, though she loves him in a more companionable way, she is no longer *in* love with him. I likes the part where Daniel finishes her sentence for her, telling her that 'she has a life' and Scully answers that she doesn't know what she has. I really think she was referring to Mulder here, because she knows what she feels for him, but refuses to admit it, and now we know that that is because of Daniel. Perhaps, in the last three episodes we have left with our agents, there will be some more resolution in this aspect. This episode, though confusing, was absolutely amazing.
