Loft 22

While Lyza showed Jett around the Cafe, Jasmine strolled in from a midnight snack. She smiled upon seeing Kyle still hanging around. Grabbing a quick glass of red wine, she slid into his booth for a quick chat.
"Hello again." she smiled while sipping her wine.
Kyle could see she wanted to flirt, so he obligued. "Hey, yourself." he mused.
Her senses were heightened from her recent feed. It was like a rush to her senses, making the night seem enhanced. She felt sassy & wanted to play with Kyle. It was obvious to him business was no longer the subject of conversation. They flirted with one another, making the evening much more fun. Jasmine thought her night had been a success thus far, so the rest was left to celebrating, she thought.

Lyza looked across the bar to see Jas had returned. She quickly slipped over, with a bottle of red in hand, to tell her the news of Jett. She sensed it was the perfect time, Jasmine's mood was high. It worked, Jas was happy to hear of Lyza's find! Waving at Jetty, Lyza motioned for her to come over to their booth. Jasmine & Jetty smiled & shared a brief converstion. Lyza reveled in her moment. They held their glasses high, and toasted their new-found friend. The night was young, and so far smooth-sailing. They both had reason to celebrate.

Lyza could tell Jasmine had other things on the brain at the moment, so the two left Jasmine & Kyle alone. Besides, Jett had many things to learn, and fast. So the two of them talked while tending the bar. Jett spoke of her past very little. She didn't have a place to stay temporarily she said. Nothing would do Lyza, til Jett agreed to stay with them. There was a nice clean room in the back, and Jetty can make it all hers, she suggested. Jett was so appreciative, she went on & on about it. Feeling very good at the moment, Lyza jumped up on stage to make some announcements. She welcomed everyone to the newly opened Cafe Noctem, and hoped everyone would find a welcome refuge. She introduced herself & her other lovely hostess as well. Glasses clinked in honor of the two proprietors around the entire bar. She also mentioned a certain new bartender that would be serving them as well. Then Lyza explained the stage & setting, as her way of leading into an accoustic solo. She plucked away at her guitar, while everyone listened in awe. It was a wonderful night & everyone was enjoying it. Lyza watched the crowd watch her. Among the faces were those of mortals, witches, immortals possibly she thought. A wonderful mixture of many, as long as the place was packed. Lyza wrapped up her peformance & requested any acts intested, to please speak with her. And with that, she exited the stage & the celebrating resumed.

A nice haze of incense & cigarette smoke filled the atmosphere. Kyle & Jasmine still sat in the booth across from the bar. By this time, Jas had grown numb from her consumption of red wine. She reached for her cigarettes, as Kyle flicked open his zippo, waiting. She grinned and took advantage of his light.
"Thank you as always..." she giggled. He smiled back at her. He didn't know what to think of her, or her friend. But one thing told him, this was a place he wanted to be, no matter what the involvement, business or personal. He was enjoying himself, and that was rare. Kyle wrapped himself tight within his work, and nothing else. So having drinks in this cafe with Jasmine was a change of pace for him. He thought maybe he should've entertained more clients in this way.
"I was going to ask you why your here, but I already know that now." she blurted. Then Jas clasp her hand to her mouth, quickly. Oops, she thought. She let that slip. Kyle cocked his head, as his brows drew close & his eyes focused on her.
"Oh really?" he replied.
"You were here on business...now its pleasure...am I right?" she miffed. She was so devilishly sly she cackled to herself. And such a general answer, and yet anyone paying attention to them both could see that.
"Yes, your right..actually I am caught between wanting it one way or another....either busines or personal..the relationship that is." he grinned sheepishly.
Jasmine smiled, replying.."Let's drink to a new beginning whatever it may be." She poured two generously glasses to celebrate their toast.

It did not take long for Jett to settle right in. after a few hours, she had reduced her clothing to a bare minimum. She had lost the heavy sweater, revealing a tight low-cut tank, with tight jeans, and boots. She fit right in with the rest of the crowd. Lyza felt very confortable with her already. She could read Jett's thoughts quite easily, so she stayed in tune with her. She could tell, Jett had not yet mastered her full potential. Hopefully, Lyza could help her with that. Then there was the whole dark truth yet to be told. Wonder how her & Jas were going to lead into telling Jetty the truth about her Bosses? It could possibly be an event quite amusing actually. Jett seemed to have a very interesting sense of humor, she was very brash to say the least. Once Lyza got her to open up a little she was sexy & bold, but still held a degree of mystery about her. She guarded her past like a treasure, and that puzzled Lyza. But she figured she would know in time what that was all about. We all have secrets, she giggled.

The hour came when all of those who had been clubbing came to finish out the remainder of the night at a more laid back type of place. The door began to swing open frequently once again, as a new breath of fresh faces filtered into the Cafe. Lyza & Jett lit more candles & incense to welcome the new group of patrons. Musicians took stage to make the atmosphere more inviting & relaxing. People gathered at the couches in the back & settled into booths along the walls, awaiting more consumption of alcoholic beverages! Jasmine realized she needed to sober up a bit, she wanted to be able to pick up on what everyone was saying about her place. She drank enough to impair her senses, knowing this, she needed to feed again to regain her strength. She alerted Lyza & slipped away, yet again. Lyza was a bit drained herself, but she was on an adreneline high tonight. All the newcomers made her even more excited. She was thinking of succes, money, and popularity. She wanted the cafe to do fabulous. And this pleased her.

Kyle noticed that Jas was walking towards the door, so he began to follow. Once outside, he watched her stumble down the alley next to the cafe. She was moving rather quickly he thought but he managed to keep up. She kept ahead just enough, but didn't know he followed...her senses were impaired, remember? Still on her trail, he tried not to be spotted, lagging behind just enough. She wasn't concerned with being seen, she felt confident she was always discreet. She slipped into the shadows upon finding an old homeless bum, sleeping by the docks. She had walked a block away only to find prey, and an easy way to dispose of her mess...the waterway. As Kyle rounded the corner, he couldn't see Jasmine anywhere. He stood quietly, scanning the docks. Suddenly from the shadows, she lept upon him, both tumbling into the darkness & to the ground. He screamed, and wailed at her..shouting her name. She recognized him & gasped, hissing she recoiled into the shadows. She was so confused on how he got there, and saddened that she jumped him. But even more disturbing was what she had to tell him about herself.
He rose up slowly and spoke softly to her. "Please don't hate me for following you. I was just curious to where you were going, I had no idea." He squatted down beside her...brushing back her bangs to look into her eyes. "I had no idea vampires really did exist, you know" and he smiled gently. "I won't tell if you won't." he said.
She thought a moment, and knew maybe this wasn't so bad afterall. She looked down at her lifeless prey, then rolled him into the water. She reached for Kyle's hand, as they walked back to the club together. She rested her head on his shoulder & replied..."Didn't you say you wanted to invest some money into my place?"...with a giggle.
He knew if she felt safe with extorting money from him to keep her secret, he would undoubtedly do so. He had plenty to throw around & just to be close to her, was something he suddenly wanted.

The walk back to the Cafe was a quiet one. Jasmine was really surprised he wasn't freaked out more. He seemed calm, unaware of how dangerous the situation was. He seemed intrigued by her, interested in her, bewildered might have been more what it was.
"You know you'll be quite a substancial partner." she smuggly remarked. "There is another thing to discuss." she paused. "Its about Lyza." her eyes dropped as her voice trailed. She look around cautiously. "She too, is like me, y'know." widening her eyes a bit to stress what she meant.
"I see." he said. "How ironic..." and his gave a chuckle. He could believe the events that had unfolded this night, and how he would've never believed it had he not experienced it first hand. "Amazing." he said, smiling at her.

Once inside, he motioned for Lyza to join them. She grabbed a bottle of red & headed to the ceremonial booth. Jasmine lead into the fact that she had slipped, revealing her darker side to him down by the docks. As she was explaing her story, Kyle was filling out a huge check to Lyza.
"This is for a grand opening like nothing anyone has ever seen. And there is more where that came from if you need it. You two, are safe with me...trust me, at least give me the chance to prove it. I can be an assest to you both. Give me tha chance." he pleaded, as he slid the check to Lyza. Her previous thoughts of him, not being a threat came back into mind. She smiled at him softly.
"Its not a problem doing business with you Kyle. Just don't think this means you can sleep with one us, now." she teased. He blushed, caught off guard of course. And so it began...a partnership, a friendship. And interesting combination no doubt.

As it approached dawn, Jasmine realized she had been consumed with Kyle all night. It had been awhile since she paid attention to the opposite sex. She had just turned that part of herself off, and relied soley on her survival skills only. The attention Kyle was giving her fed into her badly-starved ego. Even though she wanted him, she felt she shouldn't let it go too far tonight. After all they did just meet, and were signed partners to be. She didn't need to complicate things evn more, she thought. But it wouldn't hurt to let him sleep beside her. A warm body beside her in bed was something she missed. Besides, she felt it would surely be throwing Kyle a bone since she had received the puppy-dog eyes all evening long. He was pleasant on the eyes & good company so far she thought. She couldn't put her finger on it, but there was something about him that she liked. He had an unusual charm about him. She pulled at him softly, requesting his company upstairs. He grinned, as they both began their ascent to the Loft.

Jett & Lyza were wrapping things up behind the bar, as the stragglers left the scene. Still drinking, Lyza & Jett locked up, smiling at each other. The night was total success & everyone was happy. Lyza showed Jett the back room where she could crash or call her own for awhile. Lighting candles around illuminated a cozy little place that Jett was delighted with. She hugged & thanked Lyza.
"There's something I would like to tell you, Jett." Lyza began. "I sensed a strongness about you when you came in tonight. Something about you made me feel confidant that you could be an asset to this place...and to me & Jas." "We need someone around during the day, while we sleep...y'know, to protect this place...and us." she paused. "I am putting a very immense amount of trust in you from just a simple vibe. Not many can do that...not mortal anyway. We're vampires, Jett. And I am giving you the job of being our guardian...for room & board, friendship, and a job above all else. Was I right in feeling I could trust you? Right about you being a strong presence?" she asked.
"I am, I felt drawn to your place tonight. I didn't know why, but I felt I was being pulled by something. And once I got here, it felt like home. I knew it was right & that there was more to it than I knew at that moment. But I was willing to stick it out. I can handle this. As long as I get the same protection from the two of you. Please don't ever let anything to happen to me. Ok?" she beckoned.
"You never have to worry about that, Jett, never." Lyza said confidently. Jett's eyes closed for the night...while Lyza tucked the covers softly around her.
"Night, new friend." She blew out the candles, then retired upstairs herself.

She drew the drapes, once upstairs just as she saw the heavens truse bright orange. The place was peacefully quiet. She kicked back onto the sofa & smoked a cigarette. She snuggled under her blanket, shutting out the day & slipping into a restful & welcoming sleep.

Well what a colorful array behind the bar we have, Jasmine thought to herself. It was a good feeling, one of excitement, not dred. As she saw Lyza cash out her cigarette & roll over, Jasmine retired to her bed as well. It had been a very exciting night. They deserved a deep & restful slumber.
