Loft 22

As the afternoon gave way to evening, Jett had conjured up a few goodies for the new evening's festivities. A few trays of appetizers, more candles & incense. She had set up the entire Cafe for the awaiting evening. To her delight, she rather enjoyed her new situation. She had spent most of the afternoon fixing up her new pad. She had decorated it with her silk scaves, pulled out her entire life out of her little dodge. Trinkets sat around on the shelves, and her favorite blanket was tossed across her bed. It was more like a home than she had ever known. She had candles & pictures to make it even more her own. Catching herself day-dreaming, she smiled & poured herself a glass of red wine, sat back in her chair & lit a cigarette. Taking it in, all that was around her & enjoying it. She thought she was in the best place she could be in at the present time. She felt safe & that she had a sense of family. All this from one evening with them, she thought.

Upstairs Jasmine was cuddled up beside Kyle, both of them fully clothed. They both had passed out before either of them could do a thing. It was most comical. But she could feel his warm body beside hers, and it brought a brief comfort to her. Momentarily she could feel like someone else. Someone mortal. But those moments were fleeting & all too brief. She could hardly ever tell them from dreams. So she didn't ever give it much thought. She just snuggled deeper within his arms, giving little moans of satisfaction in her current surroundings. Kyle, on the otherhand, was dreaming deeply of his new friend. A smile washed across his sleepy face, as he could feel her squirm beside him. His eyes fluttered open, realizing his whereabouts, he gazed down at Jasmine & smiled. He tenderly touched her brow & forehead. She felt good laying beside him. He was happy, as though he had been cut free from something bonding him to a dull life. He felt free with her, a feeling he liked.

In the living room, Lyza stirred. She awoke with a craving, and made her way to the kitchen for a bottle of reserve. She felt like a truck had ran her down. She crawled into the bathroom & turned on a warm shower. Kyle figured it would be a good time to slip out quietly. He kissed Jasmine on the cheek, and scribbled a quick note. He made his way to the door, when Lyza spotted him. Clearing her throat, startled him. He turned around to see her standing there in a towel.
"We'll be running into one another like this more often I bet, Kyle. You better get used to it." she giggled & slipped into the bathroom. He wiped his brow, blushing just a tad, and slipped out the door. Once outside, he smiled rather largely at what just happened, then walked to his car.

A few weeks passed, and the cafe took on a new crowd. We saw something that night that made us want to search throughout the city for the source of it. These kids coming into the cafe after hours, we so alive. They were pulsating beyond any normal realm. We could see it in them. It was magnified much like our senses were to us. But these were mortal kids. They never stopped all night, dancing & smiling. It was definitely a drug-induced high or something. But unlike anything Lyza & I had seen. We contemplated a night out on the town...in pursuit of this spectacular energy that the darkest parts of the city had somehow masked from us. It existed without our knowledge & that peaked our curiosity.

So it began, this pursuit. I turned on the perfect music to pump up my mood. I slipped into my club wardrobe....black vinyl boots, a tiny black top, cinching my cleavage to utter perfection. We headed into the night and into the city. The darkness beckoned us, as the humm of music filled our ears. I could smell that familiar scent of blood, the one I noticed from the kids at the cafe. We were definitely close. Lyza & I looked at one another. Reading her thoughts, I knew she was as intrigued by this as I. I wanted to experience what they were. It was so unusal my desire to seek out this unknown part of life. I thought I knew everything, and had experienced most everything. But this was something I knew nothing about...but intended to find out everything I possibly could.

I was drawn to a particular part of town, where the flashing lights caught our attention. We slipped into the club, just as though we were one of them. The club was dark, and smokey..I thought it was beautiful! I walked towards the back of the place, where the energy seemed to be the strongest. The vibe inside this place was absolutely amazing. All types of people were touching one another, dancing, enjoying the hell out of themselves. I loved watching them. It was so interesting to me. I hadn't noticed the time that had passed before Lyza & I spoke to one another. It seemed to take us over an hour to drink in everything around us. Lyza stepped up to the bar, ordering herself a shot. She expressed she needed warmed up. I felt the same way, so I signaled for a drink. The absolute cutest bartender approached me. I immediately realized I had a play-toy if I wanted. An evil grin washed across my face, as I turned taking in the entire club.
"Its going to be a fabulous night tonight, Lyza my darling." I wickedly cackled.
We toasted one another, as our wicked evening began.

I was amazed at what I saw before me. The entire club was acting as one giant mass. Everyone seemed to be interlocked with one another...all connected. So calm & relaxed...yet humming with energy. It was most exciting! The lights pulsed as the music blared throughout the club. It definitely drew one in. It was somewhat hypnotizing...capturing one's senses..reeling them in. I thought it invigorating! I found this place so interesting, with its young people throwing themselves about the place, like the music that pulsed through them. I soon found out the reason they acted the way they did. It was a drug that let them become so uninhibited. I thought the whole thing was fascinating, enough to bring me back to the same club to watch the whole thing again. I did this many times. I studied their little culture within our society, purging on bottled water all night long, dancing continuously unlike any known being. A grin washed across my face just thinking about this. This subculture was years from even being discovered, as long as these kids continued to be cool about it.....society would be blind to it for years. I felt fortunate to have witnessed the entire thing.

So why wasn't I surprised when Lyza begged me to try the wonder drug with her??
She had never done so much as a joint in her life...now this? I was blown away. "Hell, why not." I said and laughed. At first we felt nothing. But this chick came over to us & said she heard we were trying to roll. I felt like a dinosaur, I knew nothing, not the language or anything. I just nodded. She grabbed my face, blew this mentol thing into my eyes & mouth. Lyza, thought something different, and grabbed the poor chick. I was floating, I felt awesome. I waved at her, smiling, giving her the sign I was ok. Then I told her she wanted the same thing, trust me. This evidently helped bring you up, as they call it. Whatever, it worked like a charm. Houston, we have lift off.

I can't explain how it works, but this culture sucks you right in, happily, willingly. From the very first moment you step into one of these clubs, you immediately are taken in, and shortly thereafter, behaving as though you were a veteran. Ot was fascinating to watch how it worked. The untiy it sparked among the young people, it was no wonder these kids jumped on the bandwagon. It were as though the consumption of the drug automatically joined you to the entire group, like family....it was so borderline cult. These kids walked a fine line nightly with this drug. For the weeks following our first night at the rave club, I fell into the trap, and was deeply immersed in the rave scene. I lived in these clubs, watching, enjoying, doing what the kids did. I met many people, all happy to me, but never knowing they had a vampire within their midst. They were so trusting, it would've been so easy to take advantage of them. But I held off. I was too interested in what they were doing. I'd watch as some young guy would try to get close, see what I was feeling while on the drug. It was cute to watch him spill out his routine, just fessing to be curious. It worked enough, I took him home that night. *EG*
