Winter
Solstice!
(Merry "Mother's Night"!)
Marks the point for the return of
the sun. (Celtic-usually
around Dec 21st or 22nd) (
sometimes,in some places
it begins on Sunset, Dec. 20th)
(Check your local calendars
& w/ Friends in your area)
It is the longest night
of the year!
It is thus,
the shortest day of the year!
Mother Nature("Mother Goddess")
labours all night on Winter Solstice Eve
to ensure the
turning of
the seasonal wheel
to bring back the sunlight.
( & Give re-birth to the

Winter Solstice-longest night
-
The point which marks the sun's return.
Mother's
Night
was also
a time of giving & sharing, gift-giving,family & friends,
making wreaths with wishes
for the coming year woven in.
(See making Fey/Mer wreaths

And of course, the family blessing
rite
was bestowed this night..

Merry Winter Solstice Time !
Mother Nature has laboured well,
this Merry "Mother's Night"
That we may welcome back the
"Sunchild"
to our lovely Yuletide sky..

So merrily forever, sweet Fey

And though some countless others,
may count the "years" go by...
Somehow a childish spark remains,

with their gifts, surprizes

Originally "Mother's Night"
It was also (around Dec.24 or 25)
for Scandinavian & Germanic
tribes of Europe.

Mother's Night for them,

Santa!
"The Original Shaman" ?
Christmas or "Christ's Birthday"
celebration was changed to
coincide
w/ Mother's Night ,
The Return of The SunChild
& other winter solstice
pagan traditions of
many cultures,
(such as Saternalia,Sacaea,etc..)
in order to attract more followers.
This need not detract from the
message of "Love"
that the "Christ Child"
(or anyone else for that matter)
tried to bring
to humankind however,
nor should it force us to give
up
the love shared
through pagan
or other yuletide traditions.
(Especially bearing in mind that the original
Hebrew
(hence"Biblical") words
for "Creator" & "Elohim"
& many other words ,
were originally non-gender-specific to males either
& were only later translated into masculine
forms
such as the word, "God"
& many other "He"words. "
The word "God" is derived from the
old english word, GOTTE which means "Bull".
Elohim" was a plural, non-gender specific
word for "creator".
So regardless of your faith,
this should no longer be an excuse
for oppression of the feminine or people of colour..
About Saturnalia/Sacaea :
"The Egyptian & Persian traditions
" of these,"merged in ancient Rome.
" The
coolest thing about this tradition
is that, even
"slaves" & "masters"
got to trade places for a time!
The "rich" got to be
"poor"
& vice-versa & etc.!
This was truly a time of celebration
,
giving & for:
"walking a mile
in another person's shoes!"

The
Snow Frost Faeries!
They carry out antics similar to Jack & Jackie Frost.
And we all know the joy of making snowmen &
snowwives! "We'll pretend
that he's the Parson Brown,...........
Later on we'll conspire..........as we dream...`round
the fire ...
to face unafraid the plans that we made ....
walking in a winter wonderland......"
The Twelve Nights of Yuletide
& More Celtic/Faery Fun!)
Now celebrated by most people
from:
Sunset Dec. 20th (Winter Solstice)
To Midnight Dec 31st
(because of the 1752 switch
from Julian to Gregorian Calendars
& the loss of 11 days from
the calendar)
Also as people had to become
more more secretive
about their pagan celebrations,
many Yule Trees were moved indoors.
Evergreen Trees represent
the endurance of life,
even surviving adversity.
Fruit Trees represent the rebirth of
life,
through reincarnation or rejuvenation.
Yule Log is the symbol of the newborn
sun.
People used to dance around them outdoors together
& they are still used indoors for a warm
,
cozy yuletide fire, of course.
Mistletoe, was sacred to the Celts
(& curled around the sacred Oaks)
The mistletoe represents fertility
& love enhancement between man & woman.
(Never eat the berries of real mistletoe, though!
The berries are poisonous, if eaten.)
Native North American Indians used it
in certain forms as a contraceptive, however.
And the Celts used derivitives of it
(in different doses)to cure sterility in men.
"Do not try that at home!
"Use it instead over a doorway, to entice a kiss.
You know the rules.
If caught under the mistletoe
with someone of the opposite sex:
You must forfeit a kiss!
Some people try to get caught under
it together
for a good excuse for the longed for kiss!
(My "Crush" & I , pulled that
trick ourselves at age 14,
so my parents couldn't spank me for a kiss.
("too young to date rule")
Believe it or not, it worked!
Who is to argue w/ fate or ancient tradition?
Many a romantic poem & ballad has
been written about this impish delight.
Kissing under the mistletoe is an ancient tradition
which has survived into the present
& will endure into the future.
Because it's fun & we love it. Tee-Hee.
Yuletide Lights/Faery Lights!
The Season of Lights & Jingle
Bells!
Some gifted beings say:
Each light on the Yule Tree
represents the
beating of a Faeries heart!
Faery lights & tinkling bells
please & attract the Fey.
Fey & Merfolk understand
the harmony
& interconnectedness of light & sound.
The sound of the jingle &
tinkling Faery bells
brings uncomplicated happiness.
Faery charms fill the air at
Yuletide!
Wands:
Faery Bell-Branch Wands
Try Making a gold &/or silver
branch wand
w/ seven tinker bells attached.
Little packages of little round/ball
tinkerbells
can be purchased for very little.
You can use a lovely fallen tree
branch.
(apple tree branch is very good)
Spray on a little gold &
silver spray paint
w/ glitters if possible.
Silver & gold represent the
moon & the sun.
Glitters/Sparkles represent Faery
Dust.
The seven bells
(attached in a row down the branch)
can symbolize the seven bells
of the Sidhe.
Faery
Bell Ankle Bracelets
If you do not have any,
you can easily make them.
Simply use the kind of little
bells
mentioned above &
string them into ankle bracelets
for Faery dancing.
You can be as creative as you
like.
Wear them when Faery Apple Wassailing
too!
Lots of fun!
Yuletide
As The Twelfth Night
of Yule
Fruit
Trees &
Faery Apple Wassailling!
(Some old European
& Celtic Traditions,
still alive & well here!)
During Yule beings gently shake
the fruit trees,
while drinking hot apple cider
& singing yule songs & toasts together.
Sing, Wes Hal ! "Wes Hal
!"
(means, "to be whole")
Begin hanging yule tokens for
the Faery Folk
& The Snow Faery Queen.
As you do so, cast wishes
& meditate for
a hearty harvest
to come to be, by
the coming summer.
On
the twelfth night of Yule
(Now often called "New Year's
Eve"-Dec. 31st)
or often still called:
Yuletide Night or Yuletide Eve!
Gather at a large apple tree
(or your best)
& hang cider soaked bread
on it's branches
for all the Fey Folk & good
spirits.
You should do this sweetly
to strengthen any delicate bonds with the Fey
& renew your cherished relationships
with the WEE-FOLK!
(note: the Fae are not always "wee"
since they can often choose to shapeshift
to many different sizes.
One we know goes from: being giant-sized,
to human size, to small,
& vice-versa whenever she wants. *smiles*)
Faery Folk love homemade bread,
yet "Legend" has it, that they don't
bake it themselves,
because they are allergic to iron
& thus iron baking ovens.
(iron is to fey, ;
as kryptonite is to superman, almost)
Whether this iron-legend is accurate or not,
perhaps it is best not to take chances
with another's well being.
So as allies to The Faefolk,
naturally you will want to leave them treats,
they can safely & freely delight in .
Needless to say, you'll enjoy yourselves too.
The Faery/Merfolk Wreaths!
Faeries Spirits come to ceatures at Yuletide
in joy & friendship.
Enchanting voices
filled w/ dreams of primordial recollections,
the ancient past & future possibilities.
You can make your own Faery wreath at yuletide,
that can decorate your loving space all year `round.
Or it can be sent to a loved one far away
to comfort too.
Use your imagination.
The wreath is a symbol of the wheel of the year
& also of the circle of life & wisdom.
As in Mother's Nights of Yore.
The wreath can be a beautiful family project,
where friends &/or family gather together
around a table or central location,
& decorate wreaths together.
Wreaths can be as creative as you like .
Wreaths can be an expression of many things,
including: your personality,
wishes & desires:
such as spiritual growth, protection,
health, Joy, Love.
To Make Wreaths:
You can easily get a plain grapevine wreath
to decorate.
We wrapped wide beautiful gold ribbons
of diffferent meshes & textures,
Tied & strung tinker bells
& tiny silk flower buds & Ivy ,
& strands of colourful pearls entwined,
wrapped all around,
& we glued on shades of pink feathers
to symbolize the Fey
& shades of turqouise, aqua & blue feathers t
o symbolize the Merfolk.
It turned out so serendiptiously
precious & original.
You can do this too!
Give real meaning to your wreaths.
We get a beautiful, warm feeling
everytime we see it now!
It is fun, simple & rewarding!
Try it!
The Cat-Faery Queen Yule Legend !
This is done, especially in country areas
& farms with many cats,
but it is also done in the city w/ varying results.
It is said that a Cat-Faery Queen
enchants a girl or woman
who is somehow predisposed to the Fey.
Fems with catlike eyes &/or kitty faces
are somehow particularly susceptible.
( especially those that intuitively
line their eyes like a cat's,
similar to "egyptian cat style eyeliner".
In fact this can be a sign of dual enchantment,
by both the Fey & the Cat's hypnotic eyes!)
Sometimes a Lad will become enchanted
as a helper also!
The Cat-Faery Queen enchants the beings thus,
in order to insure the protection
of all Cats under her loving care
& to cause the enchanted beings
to plead the case of the cats,
with fierce devotion!
But it is not one sided.
All kinds of Glamours are bestowed
upon those such enchanted
& every Faery charm is at their disposal,
in order that they might carry out their tasks.
These are gifts that are never taken back either.
Such a chosen soul, remains timelessly darling,
in an unexplainable way.
A sparkle in the eye,
a roundness of the cheek,
that seems to mock ,in it's sweetness,
the illusion of age or mortality.
Not to mention that the darling Gatitas
return every devotion,
with an undying love
& friendship unknown to mortal human.
The little mini-tigers are no fools.
The Cat's are to be provided w/ love,
warm shelter in the cold,
grooming attentions, extra yuletide treats,
& cream, of course!
She can be most inventive
in reaching these goals if required,
& she has been well delegated to charm anyone
in the pretense (or otherwise ) of authority ,
who might attempt to thwart these goals!
The Lad or Lass,
thusly enchanted will charm others,
even those in opposition or apathy,
into providing properly for the Cat's needs.
If not heeded,
there will be no consolling
the enchanted being/beings
untill the cats are shown mercy!
The Yule Cat!
Some european cultures
have a legend of a Yule Cat
who eat up lazy humans
who won't try enough to knit wool,
or won't otherwise try to help
to provide for winter warmth.
Thank Goodness charms work so well !
Tee-Hee! We need not fear.)
If the Snow Faery Queen & The Cat Faery Queen
join up together to enchant a being or beings,
then the enchantment is more powerful.
(dual enchantments)
They may also enlist their Fey troops to help.
(easy, in country or rural areas)
Then it is said,
those who have been thus strongly enchanted,
will extend their philanthropy
to some wild animals,
particularly deer!
Beings, who are so helplessly enchanted,
may even sneack out at night
to leave bits of food in the feilds!
Those living in tropical areas
may be enchanted by Polynesian Menehune,
water-sprites or merfolk,
into similarly doing nature's bidding!
So is this how the Fey
sometimes get a naughty name?
Why should human beings
have to be enticed
& rewarded into helping other
beings?
Aren't the "wee-folk"
really doing us the favor?
Tee-Hee?
