"Herding With the Hadrosaurs" [permanent link]. Set in a future where 'time dislocations' enable the past (and future?) to be accessed via gates, a family decides to make a new life by venturing back into the distant past. But a tragedy leaves two boys to survive alone in dinosaur world and they have no choice but to tag along with a dinosaur herd. Their adventure is told from the viewpoint of one of the boys years after the events have occurred.
