"Blindsight" [permanent link]. In this story, an apparently blind man goes looking for a scientist who is hiding on an orbital world which accepts all refugees, making it hard to find him. An 'agent' helps him find the scientist but will the search end in failure or will the result be as unexpected as we learn that the blind man isn't as blind as is thought.

"Hunters in the Forest" [permanent link]. A story about a hunter who goes back in time to hunt dinosaurs. There, he meets a woman (a fellow time traveller) who delights him. But is he willing to sacrifice it all to stay with her?

"The Longest Way Home (Part 1 of 3)" [permanent link]. A story about a young boy who finds himself marooned on another continent on his home world after a rebellion by serfs. He escapes being killed and now faces the challenges of trying to get back to him home. Along the way, he meets up with various other alien species that share his world and has to interact and understand them to survive.

"The Longest Way Home (Part 2 of 3)" [permanent link]. The continuation of the story of a young boy trying to make his way back home across an unknown landscape. He is taken in as a healer by an aliens who 'trade' him from village to village. Eventually, he is found by some people who may be potential enemies. Can he continue to hide his identity from them?

With his identity known to one of his rescuers, he is determined to push on and return to his home. But the journey is far from over even when he does reach home.

"The Second Wave" [permanent link]. An interesting story set in Silverberg's alternate universe where the Roman Empire still survives. The Roman Emperor sends another expedition to conquer the New World after the previous one fails. The trials and tribes encountered in the New World may prove to be more difficult for Roman might to conquer.
