"Can Turtles Live Forever?" [permanent link]. A fascinating article that looks at research being done on turtles; the results have been amazing. It turns out that not only can turtles live a long time, older turtles produce more eggs than younger ones and do not suffer from cancer. Further reseach may show just why this happens but, unlike research on short lived mice, much more time is needed for this research to bear fruit.

"The scientist who hated abortion and did something about it" [permanent link]. An article about a scientist who believes that is a link between breast cancer and having abortions, a controversial position to take in the US. Matters are not made easier due to the scientist's personal position on abortion (he is against it) as well as the politicial atmosphere surrounding abortion in the US. To make matters more complicated, other studies have not proven the link, leading some to fault the scientist's methodology.
