Exploring is still around, and is still for youth of those ages, but it is no longer a program of the Boy Scouts of America, instead being part of a subsidiary program, Learning for Life, and only includes Career Exploring. Sea Exploring, High Adventure Exploring, and other activity based Explorer units are now part of the Venturing program.
Venturing, like the other youth programs of the BSA, is designed to teach youth to become effective leaders and adults. Unlike the programs for younger participants, it concentrates on the youth doing the planning and the leading, with the adults only covering those things that require a legal adult, such as driving.
