One Year ago Julie James, Helen Shivers, Barry Cox and Ray Bronson had a good life. Julie was heading off to law school. Helen has just been crowned croaker queen and is moving to New York to start her Career as an actress. Barry's dream of playing for the Dallas Cowboys is reading to become a reality. Ray has big hopes of becoming a writter.
On their last night togeather they spend the time drinking, having sex and acting foolish.
When Barry is too drunk to drive his brand new BMW Ray takes the wheel and on their way home something terrible happens, as Barry is still drinking like an alcoholic he drops his bottle on Ray and they lose control of the car...BAM! They hit something...It's a man.
As they fight to decide what to do about this dead man Barry convinces the rest of the gang to keep what they did a secret and dump the man in the ocean...It wasn't over.
One Year later Julie is finally starting to put the horrible ordeal behind her. It's spring brake and she is returning home from college. As she reads her mail she picks up a letter with no return address on it and opens it up to see in bold black letters "I Know What You Did Last Summer".
The gang of friends that lost contact after that horrific night one year ago have to once again join forces to try and figure out who sent the letter. As their quest to find the writter of the letters continues to fail things start to get more heated and more frightning as this person dressed in a fishing slicker starts to hunt down the teens and the people they love or even the people that they loathe.
Barry is rundown by the slicker clad killer, Helen has her most prized pocession -her hair- chopped off, Julie finds a body being eaten by crabs in the trunk of her car and poor Ray gets a letter which Barry takes as meaning that "fisherboy" might be behind all of it.
Who can they trust to help solve the mystery and end the killings? And who is it that knows what the did last summer?
