Burke

Burke is one of the first people we meet in 'Aliens'. He introduces himself and we find him ordanary polite as a man with whom you have a professonal relationship to.
This image is soon ripped down. Burke knows what he wants and damned if he don't get it. He reveals his spit-licking soul and we all feel like this person is a slick SOB, but not someone you instantly want to kill.
He has an annoying way of behaving and soon it is clear that he would kill to get money. He loves money much more than life itself. This shows clearly when the marines proposes to blow up Hadley's Hope. Burke says: 'Hey, wait a minute. This place is worth billions of dollars.' When he is ignored he becomes wery frustrated by the tought of the lost investment. He figures out that he could make some money on this by importing an alien to Earth. He plans to smuggle it through customs as embryos in Ripley and Newt. He can't stand Ripley becaus she took the command from him, ignored him and disrespected him plus making him lose money (actually the Company would loose money, but what the hey...money is money). Newt is a unbearable snotty element of disturbance in Burke's eyes. His attempt of impregnating Ripley and Newt is discovered and he splits from the group just before the aliens make their move towards the marines.
Burke's ending was a cruel but strangely fair ending. Ripley, Newt and some of the marines follows Burke to what they belive is safety. Burke closes and lockes one heavy door and turns around, proud of himself and his deed. There is an alien, which kills him...
