Dr. Gediman was the main scientist on board the 'Auriga'. He was facinated by the animal's savagery and perfection. He felt connected to them, probably identifying himself with the beasts yet he still wanted to be in charge over them. What he fails to realize is that his control over them is weak.Even though he is caught and 'slimed down' for food supply or host to eventual bursters, he still finds them facinating and even calls the newborn for 'a beautiful, BEAUTIFUL butterfly' and talks to it like it was his own newborn child.
In the end it's his beautiful butterfly that bites the upper half of his head off.
Gediman was highly facinated by everything that had to do with his altered xenomorphs. Even Ripley 8. Everything else borded him or just didn't interest him.
