Corporal Dwayne Hicks was a laidback person. It took a lot to make him come out of balance. He didn't make much fuzz about himself. He knew what he knew and he didn't pretend to know much more than that. He is next to Apone in command.Hicks falls in love with Ripley. To him she has gone through a tough battle but is still human, much like himself. To show his affection he gives her a marker which makes him able to find her no matter where she is. Hicks realizes soon that Ripley is their advantage over the aliens. She knows them.
Hicks survives one attack after another and is more and more affectionate over Ripley and Newt. It almost seems like he thinks of Ripley as his mate and Newt as his daughter.
Hicks gets seriously wounded when the acid blood of an alien lands on the body armor on his chest. A little too slow taking it off, it burns him, leaving him immobilized and in pain. When onboard the rescue-ship, Bishop gives Hicks pain-killers, leaving him unconcious for the last 15 minutes of the movie which in the alien queen attacks.
Hicks don't die during Aliens, but in Alien 3 when he is killed by a iron bar through his chest when the EEV crashlanded on Fiorina 161...
