R e v i e w
This was the first alien picture ever made, and it is the best of the series, challenged only by Aliens (in my opinion)
V i s u a l s
This movie was made in the late 1970's, but the quality of the visual outlook is incredible and can stand up in a competition containing movies from present day. The visuals are also incredible when it comes to pure design. The space ship 'Nostromo' was created by cartoonist Moebius, famous for his sci-fi and western cartoons. Sometimes a mix of those genres. Moebius is one of my favorite cartoonists. He also created the space suits. The other great artist of this movie is H. R. Giger, who created the Alien, the alien spacecraft and the surface of the (at this point) unnamed planet.

P l o t
This plot is perhaps not so different from the other 'Alien' movies, but it was the first. It was written by Dan O'Bannon (who also has written 'Screamers' one of the best, if not THE best, sci-fi movies of the 90's!). The whole concept was new so the rate of originality is very, very high.

All of the actors made a completely wonderful job, making the characters credibility quite high. It is quite amazing that the film-crew wanted Sigourney Weaver in the role of Ripley, since she had not had her break-through. Ian Holm did a marvellous job as insane android! Even portraying just slightly crazy but loveable hobbit Bilbo Baggins I still see Ash.
