It has the same futuristic 'feel' as Alien. Generally it is a good visual movie. But a huge plus here is that they don't have long periods of darkness. Some movies (directors) tend to think that it is *so* exciting when it's all dark on the screen. This irritates me because I can't see anything and that's not scary, just annoying. But Cameron is a good director (not really excellent, but better than most) and has avoided this. The action happens in light and the colors are clear but not too bright.
Something new with this movie was the Queen, who was made for this movie. Giger did *not* make it, but approved of it. The other aliens had just minor changes done.

P l o t
The plot is good (not great, but much, much better than other sequels) and unique. The plot from Alien was not repeated as most sequels do. Alien is more of a psychological thriller and Aliens is more an action movie. Lots of guns and shooting. Still - it didn't fall into a typpical bad movie style where everything is predictable. The plot turns and twists and is very exciting. The approx. 2 hours it lasts feels a lot shorter.

A c t o r s
Sigourney Weaver is excellent in this movie. The nervousness, distress and anxiety of Ripley in the beginning of the movie is perfectly portraited. In the rest of the movie is Weaver excellent too, but distress is harder to act than 'tough'.
Paxton makes a great character of the cynic Hudson. Also Paxon deals with acting distressed well.
I don't think Biehn makes as much out of Hicks as he could have. He is portraited quite shallowly but all right if you get what I mean.
Others worthy of special mention is Henriksen, who could easily copy Holm's (Ash in Alien) android behavior, but does not.
Goldstein (Vasquez) is also good. She acts out several sides of her character even if she easily could just stick to one.
All the others were good too, but I don't feel like giving everyone a comment!
