Many people thought this movie sucked. So much, in fact, that director David Finch almost lost his courage. This was, after all, his first movie. Later he went on to do stuff like 'seven', 'fight club' and a couple more.... personally i don't think this one sucked. Here's why:
I n t r o d u c t i o n:
In the introduction we get to know that there was indeed another alien onboard the Sulaco and that the facehugger did what it was supposed to do (find a host). The visuals are introduced and the main caracters too. ok, i'd say...

V i s u a l: I just love Fincher's way of putting things... the whole scene is dark, depressing and everything has a ragged, worn, torn look. Typpical Fincher perhaps, but seriously - it suits the movie - and that's what it's all about, right?

The crew of this movie did an ok job. no - they did a splendid job... especially the ones in the computer graphics section! Best animation i've seen in ANY movie! great job.

This is the most splendid computer job ever! it is not the standard solution from ILM, but a piece of art! the trick of walking on the walls and ceiling gives a plus. no further comment, your honor...

Weaver did a good interpretation of Ripley once more, but it is clear that Weaver felt the strain from Ripley... that this was a dying character, in more than one way. Not everyone of the actors was beliveable as hard-boiled rapists, murderers and molesters but did their roles as expected. Charles S. Dutton is the honorable exception, but as an real ex-con i guess this wasn't the hardest role for mr. Dutton.

well... I like this movie and it was the first 'alien' i saw. i like the work of Fincher and all the others so i guess i just have to say that you'd oughta watch it... not because it's the prequel to alien rez, but because it's worth it!
