Round Trip Ticket
I was sitting in my favorite chair opening the package of a National Geographic that had just arrived.
"I hope this is the issue on that African tribe." I spoke to myself, "They always have great pictures."
I opened the envelope, and as I plucked the magazine from its paper nest, another envelope fell out.
"And what might you be?" I asked, not expecting a reply.
I picked up the envelope and put the magazine aside. A golden seal stirred my interest. Eagerly, I slashed it open and pulled out a gold covered piece of paper.
"Congratulations." I said slowly.
The letter went on to explain that I had won a round trip ticket to anywhere in the National Geographic I had just received.
"Offer is void in North Carolina. All room and board is free. Yada yada yada..."
I rushed to my magazine and scrutinized the front cover.
"Sea slugs in the Arctic, The Yeti, Swimming with Serpents," my excitement began to deflate like an old balloon, "Wrapping up of the Yucca. God, there is nothing here!"
Tossing both magazine and ticket aside I stretched out in the chair.
"Damn it!" I yawned, "Finally get somethin' and I can't use it."
