When the foom gets the better of you...
Foom Defined
Foom can be thought of an upredicted Reboot. A foom occurs when players want to rent, but they can't cause the have a flag or something. In other words a foom occurs when the mud crashes. When the mud fooms, all the players are logged off the mud automatically. The mud boots again, and after 10-20 minutes players can log on again. All the mobs reappear on the game and mud items reload.
Unfortunately, if you died before a foom, and you didn't retrieve your corpse [CR=corpse retrieval] you lose all the equipment you had. This is because any items that were lying on the ground before the foom, disappear.
A foom usually happens when players accidentaly [and we underline that because if you foom the mud willingly you are in deep shit and we all know what that means. Bellow is a way to foom the mud without anyone noticing it was you that did it] activate a bug in the mud, that causes a loop or something and in the end the system has two alternatives. Either reset itself, or let shit happen. Thank god the system chooses the first alternative more often than not.
There are many reasons to willingly foom the mud, although I do not justify any of these. Suppose that lot of players have P.M.S. and are after you, and for some curious reason your are unable to rent. This can either be due to the fact that you are far away from hotel or reception or whatever you want to name the place where you rent, or because you are flagged. SO the easiest way is to foom the mud. This way you, [and all the other players for that matter] are logged off and as free bonus you all get a day's free rent.
Another reason to cause a foom is you just killed a player, and after looting his corpse you don't want him getting all the remaining eq back or getting all of his friends on-line and swearing you and threatening you and generally causing spam and wasting bandwidth. What do you do then? The answer is simple. You foom the mud.
The last reason, and you should pay attention cause this reason is a very popular one these days, you are too bored to wait for a repop. A repop is when a zone that has no more mobs in it, because careless players killed em all, suddenly 'resets' and all mobs reappear. So, if they have done the zone [thus being a careless player] and you need the eq-book-exps that are there, then you only have to foom the mud.
As you might have guessed there are many ways to foom the mud. The sad thing is that there is a secrecy involved in fooming, so players prefer to keep these secrets for themselves. But as you know that is not what Maza Nostra does. Stick with us a little more and you will be able to foom the mud whenever you want.
So, one way to foom the mud is to find a bug, and exploit it. But if I were in your shoes I would think twice about that, because the gods might find out that YOU did it and delete your player or even better siteban you, and I don't blame them. No no I would rather foom the mud using a safer method.
The second way is to flood the mud, although I would be damned if I knew how you can do that. No, what we need is a simpler way.
The third way is to create many many many loops in the mud that it will cause it to lag and ultimately foom. But that is a very tiring procedure, and even I haven't mastered it yet. No, it would have to be something a lot faster, and less time consuming. Something as easy as pressing your mouse button.
