I was petrified for the first five minutes of the show. Yes I was. Why??? Because I was afraid of being afraid. (Yes, Aniad can be stupid.)
Aniad's thoughts are always in the form of discussions with herself.
"Aniad, I'm scared."
"Well of COURSE I'm scared! It'll be a scary episode!"
"It's starting!!!! Eeee!"
"Be quiet, Aniad!"
"Aniad, what are you afraid of????"
"You know my hyperactive imagination!! I'll be up some dark night, trying to sleep, and thinking about ghosts and scary scary things!!"
"Aniad, you are such a wimp!"
"I knooooow!"
"Oooh, it's Mulder and Scully!"
"Can't we watch it upstairs, with the lights on and the cat and family members in the room???"
"You will have to fold socks if you watch it upstairs."
"I don't care!"
"Well, if your hyperactive imagination will keep you up... Umm..."
"Aniad, this episode looks REALLY scary."
*Aniad races up the stairs*
Aniad: "Eeeee!!!"
Little sister: "You're afraid of THIS??"
Aniad: "Tell me what happens..." *Aniad folds socks* *Aniad looses her cowardice and glances up.* *Aniad decides it's not so scary after all*
It went from scary to scary in a really weird way. And then, the ghosts appear.
Actually, the old couple turned out to, most amusingly, taunt Mulder and Scully and show them what they "really" were. (Though they're not really like that. The ghosts took minor personality traits [Scully proving Mulder wrong] and turned them into the sole purpose of their lives.) But they ARE lonely.
Now, the fun part. Running around and not being shot. Who thought that the ghost was Mulder? Remember Pusher's friend in "Kitsungari"? Who thought she was Scully? I, personally, was thinking that, no, he did NOT just shoot Scully. And, hey, he didn't! What did suprise me was the fact that both Mulder and Scully were shot by the ghosts, and then it turned out that they weren't shot after all. Pretty clever ghosts, no?
And then, as my father put it, it turned into a love story! Or, if not a love story, then a story that brings the two closer together. Going along with my original prediction, the two will bond. And they did, and WELL. Though I can't help wondering what Scully's family was thinking of her, and what was in those presents. It looked like Scully had a salami and Mulder had.... either two CDs or a picture frame. Maybe we'll find out... but it doesn't matter. To follow with the theme, Christmas was not stolen, and everyone lived happily ever after.
