4X01 Herrenvolk

Following a climactic encounter with the Bounty Hunter, Agent Mulder and Jeremiah Smith flee by boat. Smith takes Mulder, followed closely by the murderous Bounty Hunter, to a hidden farm in Alberta, and reveals a Syndicate plan involving carrier bees. Scully and Pendrell work feverishly to decrypt the database which the Smith's were maintaining for the government. An important character also falls victim to one of CSM's traps.

4X03 Home

Called to investigate the death of a badly deformed newborn, Mulder and Scully arrive at the eerie town of Home, Pennsylvania. Immediately suspecting the nearby family, whom Sheriff Taylor identifies as the Peacocks, Mulder and Scully investigate the vacant home and discover evidence of the recent birth. However, this family bears a much more horrifying secret than Agent Mulder and Scully can fathom. Can Dana and Fox discover the truth in time?

4X02 Unruhe

The kidnapping of Mary LeFonte brings Agents Scully and Mulder to Traverse City, Michigan to investigate. Mulder discovers that LeFonte had entered a local drugstore to obtain passport photographs. While waiting for the film, LeFonte was kidnapped. Mysteriously, the passport photos, which were taken before the crime, depict LeFonte in a horrified, warped state. Can Scully and Mulder capture this kidnapper with the ability to influence film with images from his mind?

4X08 Paper Hearts

John Lee Roche is a murderer convicted of killing thirteen children and cutting hearts from their clothing as trophies. Having worked to capture Roche early in his career, Mulder becomes distraught when he has a dream revealing the location of a fourteenth victim. What Mulder doesn't know is that Roche is manipulating him through a "mental link" to obtain his freedom and kill again. Can Mulder discover Roche's plan in time? What connection, if any, does Roche have in Samantha's disappearance?

4X09 Tunguska

Acting under information obtained from an anonymous informant, Mulder and Scully assist the ATF in stopping a terrorist group. Dana and Fox soon discover that Alex Krycek was the informant and has cataclysmic information to share. Krycek leads the agents to Dulles Airport where he fingers a courier carrying a diplomatic pouch. After acquiring the pouch, Scully discovers that it holds a deadly extraterrestrial rock which encases a black oily substance. The UNBlonde reveals that the rock originated from a meteorite strike in Tunguska, Russia in 1908. Mulder and Krycek fly to Russia to investigate the site.

4X10 Terma

Mulder and Alex are captured by the Russians at the Tunguska research site. Fox quickly discovers that the Russians are subjecting their slaves to the Black Oil in attempts to formulate a vaccine. To Mulder's chagrin, Krycek is revealed as a high powered Russian official and has Mulder subjected to the tests. Mulder is able to escape and take Krycek hostage. Meanwhile, Vassily Paskow, a Russian agent, breaks into the Syndicate's research facilities and destroys all experiments concerning the Black Oil. Can Mulder and Scully unravel the connections between the Russians, the Syndicate, and the Black Oil?
