Dracul, Vlad - Prince Vlad Dracul reigned over a small kingdom a long time ago. He had numerous campaigns against the Turks, and resided within a castle in his realm. The treachery of this man, nicknamed Vlad the Impaler, lives to this day. Dracul set a strict system of laws, which people of all social classes feared to ignore. Legends say that Vlad the Impaler would partake in cruel punishments upon subjects who broke the laws. His favorite torture was that of impaling, giving him his name. When Dracul died it was estimated that he killed between 20,000 to 40,000 people. Vampires stemmed from his life when Bram Stoker wrote the book "Dracula." Dracula remains the most recognized vampire name, coming from the Imailer himself. |
