7X02 The Sixth Extinction: Amor Fati

Okay, this was a kinda cool, but extremely confusing episode. Now, logic...logic...can I do this logically. Okay, to begin with, Mulder was really cute and it was sad when he kept yelling, "Mom!!" when his mom left the room. When Mulder gets poked with that really big needle, it looked very painful, and does CSM even know what he's doing? And what was with the silent conversation? When CSM says, "Arise", I think it harkens back to the episode Talitha Cumi, which means Arise, Maiden. Okay, Mulder's no maiden, but the idea's the same. Now, the question we all want answered: Is CSM his father? I think, unfortunately, it may be true. Why would he lie about it when Mulder's unconcious, to Diana? And the hints along the way have been to many. Poor Mulder, what a weird dad.

After the credits, it was really sweet how Mulder really wanted to tell Scully where he was, above all. Oh, and boy, was CSM a major cancer-bastard. He was smoking 2 cigs at once! Mulder looks like shit in his hospital gown with his hair all messy. Go sunflower seeds! That's funny. Go Deep Throat! "Not dead, just really relaxed"! Funny. Cute hug.

When Scully goes into her apartment, there's a really cool view of it. The appearance of Hosteen I will address later.

Okay, Mulder's little thing with Diana? EEEWWWWW!!!!!!! YUCK!!! Now, why does Fowl-one send that book to Scully so early on? Hmm. Cool tie in the with the Anasazi. Then, the return of the One Armed Ratboy Wonder (Dubie term that I like)! Finally! I was wondering when he'd show up. Okay, back to Mulder's dream. My take? Suburban un-paradise. Mulder is so tied to his work, always thinking about his commitments. Sam...too good to be true.

Scully is so kick butt with her razor sharp sarcasm around Fowl-one. She really hit home with Fowley, just trying her hardest to simply get through to her and make her see reason. Go Scully!!

Now, why was Fowl-one Mulder's wife in his dream and not Scully? Because Fowley was only mortal, but Scully comes back in the appearance of living forever? Or maybe because it corresponded to who was near him in the real world? Just a thought. Why in Mulder's dream does CSM not age? Does he represent an immortal group of collaboraters and those like him? When Scully shows up in his dream, she sure tells him a thing or two, then he cries for her just like his mom in the beginning. Ratboy!! He gets on Skinner's case with his little toy from SR 819 and then goes and kills Kritschgau, and his part in the episode was too small in my opinion. Okay, finally Fowley does something right and sends Scully the key card to get in and save Mulder. It was so shippy when she's begging Mulder to get up, and she cries! Then at his apartment, she nearly cries again! More than she's cried in the whole series! And when she kissed his forehead? For a second I thought they were actually kissing! 2 more inches!!! Aaaugghh. It was so shippy!! And the "You are my friend, my touchstone, my constant"? So shippy!!

Okay, it's actually too bad Fowley died, since she was just redeeming herself, like Spender when he got rubbed out. It's also good that Mulder wasn't too hurt by Fowley's death. The whole thing with Hosteen was weird. Was Scully just halucinting? Or was it something more? The part where he gets her to let go of logic and take a leep of faith and pray was great, and a breakthough for Scully. Her admitting she doesn't know what to believe is a step in the right direction. Anyway, a pretty cool episode overall.
