Thought the Sixth:

Working in the Great Outdoors

I was lucky enought this weekend to lead a ritual in the forests of the San Gabriel Mountains near L.A. Most of my solitary work is conducted outside (preferably on mountain- or hilltops), so this was a wonderful, truly magickal setting. Afterward, I was reminded of a discussion recently at a workshop on paganism in the urban environment. So many modern pagans/Wiccans seem to virtually never venture outside their homes for their work with the natural world. Obviously, there are as many reasons for this as there are magickal practitioners. Surely fear of discovery must lead the list. I know that no matter where I go, I am always succeptible to interruption. Nonetheless, my outdoor work alone and in groups remains always inspirational. I am fortunate enough to live in a state and a community where non-traditional paths are relatively acceptible, but this is obviously not the case for most pagans today. I am interested in hearing via e-mail or my guestbook about pagan friendly outdoor sites and happy experiences.
