"The Essence of Unity"
(Approximate length = 125,000 words)
(Synopsis)

Arnot....a world where society and government is a balance between a matriarchal theocracy and a democracy.

Kamon....a powerful yet thoughtful man who is often at odds with his own culture.

Jasmine....a professor of peace and non-violence, the mysterious woman who captures Kamon's heart.

Casio....Kamon's sarcastic friend and purveyor of practical advice.

The unseen entity....Jasmine's unnamed mentor. Almost limitless abilities, intriguing, operating where none can observe...nor understand.

Kamon ponders the mysteries that have suddenly entered his life. Was he extremely fortunate to escape the ravages of a severe thunderstorm? Or had someone saved his life? Had he been near death...or merely dreaming? Who is the strange new woman that has entered his life, the woman espousing peace, known only as Jasmine? A rebel in a world where men are a repressed class, Kamon struggles to find himself even as he is drawn to Jasmine. But it is the very success of her message of peace that places Jasmine's life in jeopardy. Thus, Kamon finds yet another reason to challenge his own society. It is up to him to marshal his unique talents in attempting to rescue Jasmine from death.

Future novels in the series:

In the second novel, another main character is introduced....Caerulus.

Caerulus becomes the focus of the third story. This blue-skinned alien is abruptly transported to Earth, but she has no memory of who she is or how she got here. It is a fascinating tale of a truly lost woman being shielded by a farm family in Iowa....until the world learns of their astounding visitor.

In the fourth novel, the focus returns to Kamon in a morality play where he battles for justice on an eighteenth century wilderness planet. Kamon is aided by the most unlikely of heroines -- a nine-year-old girl whose faith in heroes and magic saves them all.

These are stories, which are designed to spur the reader to think about the world around us, to appreciate its people and their diverse cultures. But most importantly, this is an adventure! It is to be enjoyed!

Brief background on myself (the author): I was a member of the Iowa Democratic State Central Committee (1986-90) and am currently chair of the Chickasaw County Democratic Party (1990-Present). I was very active in the Gary Hart presidential campaigns. (See Jules Witcover and Jack Germond book, "Wake Us When It's Over"). I drove Gary Hart to all parts of Iowa. I was similarly active in the presidential campaigns of Michael Dukakis and Paul Tsongas. It was Gary Hart who urged me to put my thoughts and musings into story form.
