The Season Premier opens up with Dawson returning from Philedelphia after sepnding the summer doing internship with his mother. He is sitting in a bus and has fallen asleep watching his dvd player. He is woken up by a stunning blonde. Instroductions done with, we find out that the blonde chicks name is Eve and although she can be pretty brusque Dawson finds her intriguing.
Joey is filling gas tanks at Logan's Marina and impatiently checks her watch. A young man walks up behind her "I'll take it from here Potter" and we are introduced to Rob Logan, son of the owner of the Marins. They bicker for a bit before Joey tells him that she'll be back after school
Jack and Jen are getting breakfast in what seems to be a very practised and well refined routine. They start eating and than notice Grams has been openly laughing at them "How long have you two been married?"
Pacey and Dawson are talking about Eve - "She morphed into pure oxygen air and vanished" They than leave the topic and start talking about what Dawson will do when he finally sees Joey again "Well, today is the day. Dawson Leery and Joey Potter have been apart for months now, in fact, the whole summer has passed and the whole world is waiting to figure out what's going to happen." Dawson finally comes to a conclusion saying that he has spent the last year worryng and agonizing when he sould have been living. He starts to leave but not before saying "I'll tell her that it's over. That it's been over and that we're better off without each other."
Mitch suddenly walks in and says that hes leaving for his coaching seminar and it is now that we discover that Mitch Leery is now Capesides official Football Coach.
Jen and Jack are sitting together in Junior Assembly when Belinda and her cheerleader groupies walk up. Jen and Belinda throw a few sparring insults before Belinda walks off.
Meanwhile...
Dawson and Pacey have regrouped again and are talking about the fact that Joey should be here and shes not. They are interrupted when the new Principle - Principle Green starts to make his first speech. Joey walks in silently and stands at the back, Pacey catches her eye and proceeds to infrom Dawson of her entrance, and is noticed by Principle Green, he is than told that "Mr. Witter. Mr. Witter I'd like to applaud you for being the first student I've met at Capeside who actually acts like one. I hope that someday you all will act as one. Reclaim your youth. Live, learn, screw up. I applaud you, Mr. Witter." "Oh, and I'll see you on Saturday. In detention..."
Lots of girls are sigining out for Cheerleader tryouts while Belinde who is the head cheerleader loudly abuses each of the potential try outs. Jack and Jen who are observing this start to discuss the reasons as to why anybody wants to be a cheerleader anyway and Jen decides that the only way to find out si to try out. She reaches the sign up sheets and Belinda immediately starts to berate her but she is cut short with Jens "You sure, Belinda? Haven't you ever wondered if I've got what it takes to hold the pom-poms?" Belinda smiles and takes up teh offer.
Pacey and Dawson are walking out in the hallways when Dawson spots Joey across the hall. Dawson pleads to Pacey to take him away from her and the pair turn to leave, but just as they do Joey looks up to see their hasty retreat.
Joey arrives home and starts to complain to Bessy about how tired she is and Bessie once again reminds her that its only until the insurence money comes through and than Bessie can hire a sitter and subsequently get a job. Bessie than asks Joey how her first encounter with Dawson was and Joey lies saying "He just looked at me and I looked at him. In that split second, it was like we forgave each other for everything. And then, of course, we talked about it until we were blue in the face. Just like old times." "I'm glad, Jo. You two are meant for each other. If I'm sure of anything, that's it. "
Cut to Dawson and Pacey sitting in a strip club. A Waitress approaches the two and they order drinks "Well, I will have a couple of beers and my friend here will have a tall glass of milk." They start talking about the possibility of Dawson getting laid this year when the waitress returns with their dirnks. She sits in between the two and they ask her to leave. "You don't remember me, do you?" and yes surprise surprise the Waitress takes of her wig and its Eve.
Dawson and Pacey are walking home from the strip club and Pacey tells him that hes shocked that Dawson didn't manage to hook up with Eve. Dawson reminds pacey that he gave her his number and that its up to her to call but that in most likelihood "someone of that degree of life experience and sexual liberation to take regard in someone who is having to take their PSATs." is very low. They walk in to Dawsons house and Eve is waiting for them in the living room.
Dawson is obviously shocked and Eve proceeds to inform him that she took up his offer of a date. At this point Pacey pulls Dawson into the kitchen and tells him that at this point in time the best friend usually leaves so that the hot stripper and the "new and improved" Dawson Leery can have some quality time together and suggests that Dawson take Eve for a spin in his dads boat.
Meanwhile at cheerleading tryouts Jen is waiting in line and she sees Belinda degrading another girl trying out for a cheerleading postition. And when it comes to Jen's turn she produces a wonderful soliloquy about Belinda's sad life and in true Jen style leaves the hall with everyone cheering her and leaving Belinda totally humiliated.
At the marina Rob (Joey's new boss' son) walks in on Joey while shes changing and obbviously shirtless, saying that he wants to get a soda. He prolongs his stay inside the storeroom for as long as possible.
Out on the water though Eve is busily trying to seduce Dawson, They share a couple of kisses and he finally succeeds in getting her full name, after a while things start to steam up and Eve dissapears out of the shot, hinting that shes trying to distract Dawson. Well of course it works and Dawson crashes into the peir (coincidentally the same peir that Joey happens to be working on *L*). This little accident leaves Joey hurt and angry with Dawson and Dawson with 3000 dollars worth of damages to the boat and the peir.
The next day at school Jack is walking down the hallway with Jen and hes starting to get a bit suspicious about the fact that girls are congradulating her and guys are paying even more attention to Jen than they usually do. When he finally confronts Jen he finds out that not only has she been made a cheerleader but she has been made head cheerleader.
After School Joey goes home and finally admits to Bessie that things between her and Dawson are really not that great and that she lied to her before, but Bessie just tells her not to worry coz she and Dawson are meant to be and all she has to do is be patient.
Dawson and Pacey are hanging out at the Leery house when Eve shows up sporting 400 dollars to contribute towards the damage funds. Pacey than comes up with the idea of holding a stripper party and charging 20 dollars a head to watch some of Eve's friends strut their stuff. Dawson is hesitant but Pacey eventually manages to convince him that it's the only way that they are going to recover the money needed.
The following night the party is a huge success and Dawson exhausted goes up to his room to find Joey sitting in the dark. She apologizes to him about her actions and than asks about his summer and more importantly about Eve. Once Dawson convinces her that they are just friends Joey starts pulling the moves on Dawson, even going so far as to remove her shirt for him but when she tries to kiss him Dawson pulls away saying that he can't go through another year like last year and that "he loves her but he dosn't want her". This of course leaves a embaressed and hurt Joey running out of the house.
At the end of the party the money is tallied and comes up to 3162 dollars enough to cover the cost of the damages. Eve tells Dawson she has something to show him and he asks Pacey to keep an eye on Joey because "more than anything she needs a friend right now" Pacey is reluctant but eventually gives in. He meets Eve out on the dock where shes waiting along with a boat that she borrowed. But just than Dawson hears his dad wondering around outside, obviously angry and looking for Dawson. Dawson ready to accept his fate sends Eve on her way.
Pacey in the meantime rows over to Joey's house and finds her crying on the dock. And against Joey's wishes gets up and sits nexct to her on the dock. For a while he makes a joke of the whole thing trying to cheer her up but after a while he admits that Dawson told her what happened and than tells her that the right decisions were made. And that even if it was the right person it wasn't the right place. After hearing that Joey rests her head on Pacey's shoulder and begins to cry again.
