HISTORY

Rhiana Koval defected to the Klingon Empire after the assasination of her father, former head of the Tal-Shiar Chairman Koval. She is the product of an affair between Koval and a human female who's identity is known to very few. Chairman Koval was head of the Tal-Shiar for several years and would have been in line to be Praetor had it not been for the fact that he was diagnosed with Tuvan Syndrome,a degenerative disease. Rhiana was raised on Romulus with her father but was distrusted by most because of her mixed heritage. Only the fact that her father was one of the most powerful men in the Romulan government, and head of the feared Tal-Shiar,kept her out of harm's way. Koval tried to keep his work away from Rhiana but she still knew far more than the average intelligence officer about the inner workings of the other superpowers. She also knew that her father was a spy. Koval, while publicly denouncing the alliance against the Dominion, was secretly a Federation agent. Koval was assassinated during Shinzon's rise to Praetor which left no protection for Rhiana. Rather than fall under Shinzon's boot,Rhiana decided to defect and take the secrets her father possessed to a race with more honor since she felt the Romulan government had lost it's way. With all her knowledge of the other superpowers, she felt the Klingon Empire was the strongest and most honorable. Though half human, she always regarded the Federation as too passive. She contacted Chancellor Martok who was intrigued by the potential of such an asset as the daughter of Koval. She spent quite a while on Qo'noS being debriefed before being assigned to the IKV Bayou Serpent by Martok himself who actually grew quite fond of her during her debriefing. Ri'Par has always been distrustful of Romulans but has given Rhiana a chance to prove herself useful since he holds the Chancellor in such high esteem. If the Chancellor is fond of her then she must have some honor after all.
