Daisy
Bellis perennis

Appearance: 2-15 cm high. Spatulate leaves in a rosette on the ground; slightly serrated; one flower head at the end of a stem without leaves, ray flowers white, often with a red edge, disc flowers yellow.

Landscape: fields and grassy places.

Flowering time: from early spring till late autumn.

Use:Mix the fresh leaves and flowers through a salad, it looks nice and tastes good. A tea of daisy alone does not taste too well. Daisy purifies the blood, staunches bleeding, relieves cramps. Because it purifies strongly it can relieve a liverinfection. The daisy is a flower of the sun, she brings in optimism and helps against exhaustion. The daisy is often used for animals, against skin injuries. For that purpose a handful of leaves and flowers are boiled in water. The extract is used to wash the wound with. People can gargle with it against a soar throat. The daisy clears the bronchial tubes.

Special: The name daisy comes from 'day's eye' and indicates that the flowers open during the day-time, when the sun is shining and close again at night. The red color appears when it is cold.
