Suddenly he's old and grey
Nobody knows what to say
Staring at the wallpaper
All alone but still together
In their eyes you'll see what they feel
In their eyes the pain is real
But they are all afraid to show
They don't want the sick man to know
He's so small in the great white bed
Breathing hardly, small and sad
He doesn't even know you're there
Of your presence he stays unaware
Until you leave and take his hand
He wakes up is there again
Opens his eyes and tells you to be strong
Like he is than but for how long
