Responsibilities

As set forth during the 1960s by the

"Indiana Society For Ethical Hypnotists"

1.  Always have the well being of your subject in mind. Never embarrass him. Make the experience a pleasant and beneficial one for him.

2.  Always remove any suggestions that you are through with. Exceptions to this would be post-hypnotic suggestions. Be sure the subject understands that he has been released from the suggestion and that he will be normal in all respects.

3.  Before your subject leaves your place make sure he is wide awake.

4.  Be sure to speak clearly. Use simple words. In a regression, a 10 year old would have the vocabulary of a 10 year old and not one of a college graduate. His I.Q. regressed to the age he is reliving. Some authorities even feel that all hypnosis is a form of regression - that the subject has accepted the hypnotist as the father or mother authority image.

5.  If your subject is of foreign extraction, tell him, "You will always understand me, and you will always talk to me in English".

6.  Never panic no matter what the reaction by the subject. fear can easily be transferred to your subject. Your first purpose is to hypnotize and to make the state so pleasant that he will have no fears to repeat the experience.
