Evolution  Animated Man

From swirling dust in a newly formed star system to a planet inhabited by somewhat intelligent beings (Also evolved from the same swirling dust) killing each other with atomic bombs.  This world of ours has seen a fair amount of change over the eons.  Mankind is a recent addition to the world and is just part of the ongoing change that will continue, for all intents and purposes, forever.

As the planet has changed, sometimes suddenly and sometimes gradually, the life forms have changed with it.  Reptiles lost control at some point and the dinosaurs took over for awhile before they died out and mammals took over.  The process goes on and on.  Humans have reached a point where they can assess some of what goes on from the history that has been dug up around the world.  It isn't likely that the dinosaurs thought about much more than surviving until the next meal.

What makes us special?  Dinosaurs ruled for a couple hundred million years and yet we can find no evidence that they evolved into beings intelligent enough to invent cars.  They did evolve into different forms but didn't produce any Einsteins.  We suddenly appeared on the planet's radar a few million years ago and have already been to the moon.  Short of blowing ourselves out of existence, we should continue to evolve and gain mental capabilities.

Without getting into the discussion of why we are evolving both brain and brawn as opposed to all of the other creatures on this beautiful little planet, we need to ask if our replacements are already among us.  We know that each generation evolves just a little from the previous.  Could changes in global conditions or perhaps unseen conditions emanating from outside of our realm of perception cause a sudden push to bring on the next step?

Will the next step of human development recognize that they are different and take steps to mask that fact?  Super(intelligent)men will very easily take control of the world's financial, business, and political centers.  The old line of humans will be slowly pushed aside as the "next step" (Let's call them NS) takes over.  This isn't necessarily a bad thing.  Or is it?  Will it be evolution or revolution?
