Life is Energy
Life is energy. If we looked at the human body through the right type of lens, all you would see is a field of energy radiating various colors depending on where you are looking and on the condition of the body. There are people who claim to be able to see this "Aura" or energy field and determine the health of a person by interpreting the colors of the fields.
This is not as far-fetched as it first sounds. Nor is it psychic as some people claim. You might say the person seeing the Aura has Extra Sensory Perception in that they may see the light but having heightened abilities that allows the eyes to pick up this radiated light energy only means having heightened abilities, nothing else. This is science, not cosmic.
Everything is our universe is made up of matter. There are particles, atoms, quarks, rays made of particle types, and things we cannot yet imagine. Those inanimate rocks in your yard are made up of atoms. They have energy and if you had a microscope powerful enough, you could see the atoms moving around at the sub-atomic level. There is a lot of space between the pieces and there are particles bombarding our planet every day that just pass through without touching anything just because there is a lot of empty space at the subatomic level.
What we consider "living" things such as plants and animals have another quality mixed in with the atoms. We call that quality "Life". Whatever life may be, we know only from our perspective. The sun may be alive and wondering about its kind of life and not able to recognize us as living beings. That pile of rocks on the mountain might think of itself as a community, blissfully unaware of anything else. Once mankind reaches out to other planets, we may have a pretty good idea of what we are looking for but stand by for all the surprises in store for us.
Science would do well to spend time finding ways to analyze the human aura. The energy fields will give clues to human ailments and once medical people can pinpoint where a problem lies, then treatment would be much more accurate. At the moment it seems unlikely that when you next visit your doctor, he will look at you and say, "Well, let's see what color your aura is today".
